Hoax. zzzz.
26 July 2009 Sunday | 23:24 | -

It’s 2009. And people are still forwarding emails and SMSes hoping to win something. Hello?!

1. It’s funny how boh liao people who initiate SMS hoaxes usually have bad grammar. 60 billion, not 60 billions. 10 people, not 10 person.

2. Under the Anti Spam Act (or whatever it’s called), Singapore companies are required to insert < ADV > when initiating mass messaging.

3. No self respecting corporation the size of these telcos will have smileys in their messages. Emoticons are reserved for casual messaging, and should not find their way into formal communication channels. If they do, it’s time to send the PR folks packing.

LOL

Joanne was tickled when I told her earlier, “We were on IW together on Monday, and we’re on WB tonight…”

YH, it must have been a low news day for you to call 15 minutes after I tweeted about my ear infection. Hahaha! Thanks for the concern though. :)

Counting down to NDP on the Navy’s RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat)
26 July 2009 Sunday | 18:26 | National Day 2009

“Am I allowed to gush?”, said BG Tan Chuan-Jin on the NDP website two months ago. The NDP Exco Chairman was on an aerial recce to check out the routes for the Flag flyby and the Total Defence display. They didn’t put me on a helicopter, but they got the Navy guys to bring me out for a ride!

Previously when the Parade was held at the National Stadium and Padang, the Navy’s involvement was rather limited. The event shifted to the Floating Platform two years ago, and the waters at Marina Bay provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the three Services in the Military Defence component.

Yes, my fellow passengers were senior officers in the Army and Airforce. I never felt safer.

The audience at the NDP Combined Rehearsals and National Education shows had an adrenaline rush when the land, air and sea elements rolled out before their eyes. It’s not just what you see. It’s what you hear.

I wish I could have taken more pictures, but erm, I was holding for dear life. In this simulated scenario, the Navy boats are giving chase to the bad guys armed with explosives. People standing at the Merlion Park and the Esplanade might just get that additional surprise when the choppers and boats get close. Raincoats aren’t unnecessary, but expensive cameras should be kept away. :)

Itchy. Pain. Itchy. Pain. What’s that yellowish liquid?!
24 July 2009 Friday | 19:31 | The King's Dramatic Life

The infection on my left earlobe has been bothering me for a while, but I was too lazy and (busy ?) to do anything about it. I had to see a doctor this afternoon, after the unbearable itch and pain in my ears kept me awake all night.

Haiyoh. One problem after another.

I pierced my ear four years ago, and everything has been okay so far. Two months ago, there was some swelling and redness, and a yellowish liquid leaking from the hole. My earlobe is disfigured! Temporarily lah.

It seems that I am allergic to nickel and I can’t wear my giant bling bling Swarovski stud anymore! Someone suggested I should switch to wearing gold. Noooo! Hahahah.

Then an infection occurred in my ears. It’s not related to the earlobe, the doctor said.

The dampness in my right ear developed into a crusty layer three days ago, and I swear I felt the pain travelling from my right ear into the right side of my head. My left ear got all wet and itchy a day later, and I was kept busy stuffing tissue paper into the ear.

Fortunately, it’s nothing major. My eardrums are perfectly fine.

I’m taking antibiotics orally, and have to use ear drops three times daily. As for the earlobe, I’m supposed to apply a thin layer of cream to help with the healing.

Argh.

Vampires don’t sparkle.
22 July 2009 Wednesday | 22:50 | -

After a few scenes in the Harry Potter series, Robert Pattinson appears as a vampire in the Twilight franchise.

Many think he’s hot, but not everyone’s a fan.

By the way, Twilight: New Moon is scheduled for release in the last quarter of the year.
