Unscheduled visit to the hospital
18 June 2007 Monday | Five Broken Bones, The King's Dramatic Life

Freaked out totally last night… Blood was oozing out of the (main) surgical wound. There was also a yellowish discharge.

(Haiyah… no time and no mood to take photo lah)

*thunder and lightning*

I would have thought that the road to recovery would be smooth. After all, the operation was done five weeks ago. If there was to be any infection, it would have occurred earlier, isn’t it?

I had nothing at home to deal with the leakage. By “nothing”, the former St John first aider in me meant that I didn’t have any antiseptic swaps to clean the wound and proper dressing to cover it up.

At 3am, there weren’t many options to consider. After texting the best friend to collect me to the hospital first thing in the morning, I could only paste a few pieces of tissue paper over the wound and prayed that I wouldn’t wake up to a blood soaked home bandage.

I have to be put on antibiotics.

Yucks!

I was initially asked to return every other day to have the dressing changed… But the former St John first aider successfully bargained with the specialist to DIY at home.

Heng ah, the insurance company would say… For I accumulate a bill close to $100 each time I step into the hospital.

The next appointment will be on Thursday. Or when I develop a fever. Whichever is earlier.

Phui!

Cruz Teng is a JINX.
15 June 2007 Friday | Five Broken Bones, The King's Dramatic Life

I was talking to HY last evening when she noted the amount of attention, well wishes and gifts I received after the accident.

She wondered what would happen if she were to suffer an injury.

Cruz:

Hahaha. Siao ah. What’s there to compare? Ok ok, I tell you If you were to fall down in the very near future *CHOY CHOY*, I can donate some chicken essence to you cos I have a lot! But the birds’ nest I want to keep for myself lah. :P

She smiled and thanked me for my kind thoughts.

.

.

.

Two hours later, she fell in her office.

OMG.

OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG.

.

.

.

I feel so guilty.

I told her to visit a Chinese Physician after confirming there were no fractures. And because I had played mahjong with the Physician and his wife on several occasions, I managed to have them charge the fees to my account.

OMG.

I am a jinx.

Confirmed.

You people had better stop talking to me from now on.

Close this browser and swear never to visit cruzteng.com ever again!

P/S: Oh, you might want to come back for a final visit over the weekend when I blog about the retribution that came shortly after HY’s fall.

Bai Kah 1st Month Anniversary
13 June 2007 Wednesday | Five Broken Bones

Woo, it’s been 30 days already.

I was laughing at my own clumsiness exactly one month ago, and then cringing after the anesthesia wore off.

For a brief moment, I was extremely depressed at the idea of a handicapped lifestyle, albeit temporary. I couldn’t imagine weeks or months of limited movement and total inconvenience.

Haiyah… Life goes on lah… Whether you have one leg, two noses or three eyes…

Congratulations to myself for the 1st month anniversary.

And condolences thanks to the people who subject themselves to the bidding of the Bai Kah King.

The hand delivered coffee and cheesecake was a real treat.

What more to ask for? =D

Presents, presents
12 June 2007 Tuesday | Five Broken Bones

I mentioned in an entry a couple of months ago that I don’t believe that 13 is an unlucky number. I belong to the group that calls for a swimming and travelling ban during the 7th month lah.

Erm… Just realised that two major incidents/ accidents in my life happened on the 13th. I crashed into an Altis on 13.7.06 (Thu) and fell into a drain on 13.5.07 (Sun).

Coincidence?

Maybe.

Hahaha.

Tomorrow will be the 1st month anniversary of the fall.

I’m desperately praying that my left foot becomes usable soon, because I don’t want to do physiotherapy!

Because my home is already filled with (withered) flowers, birds’ nest, essence of chicken and other assorted tonics and titbits, my mum got me something inedible.

An extremely compact cutesy phone from Bangkok!

Woohoo!

A verbal IT’S FRIDAY! (instead of a printed one)
8 June 2007 Friday | Five Broken Bones

I finally went on air to shout IT’S FRIDAY this morning.

Fun fact: How they love to play Kiss Goodbye before or after I go on air. Hahaha.
