I vowed that I will make this a great month. So far, so good. Plenty of lunch and dinner dates. Plenty of catching up with some gossiping and bitching thrown in.

Japanese dinner with two long time confidantes. The service at San-Sui was impeccable.

A table for 10 in the middle of the week. No reasons required. Just eat. And we adjourned to this place for desserts. The chocolate thingy was like woah, one of the best I’ve ever had.

To counter my heatiness, I’ve been having celery and green apple juice lately. And because I need some caffeine to power up the mornings, there was coffee alongside the obligatory can of Coke.
And I was distracted one morning by a front page advertisment on TODAY. That piece of roast meat was so tantalising! An hour later, Chongqing came in to ask if I wanted anything from the canteen. Unexpectedly, the roast meat was ready by 9.30am!
Lovely.
I drove out of the office on Tuesday afternoon with gleeful thoughts. What a downpour. Perfect for a nap. The skies cleared five minutes later. Duh.
And because I had a sudden craving for beef, I found myself driving to East Coast. I’m very lazy and I particularly like drive-throughs. Hahaha.
Instead of eating in my car (and blasting the air con) like I usually do, I was lured over by the sea. There I was munching on a Portobello Mushroom Burger from Carl’s Junior and enjoying the sun and the breeze on the sands alone. Quite zen, I think. And very free, as some would comment.

Via HeyWAY, I informed my friends of my whereabouts.
A. was swift in asking if there were any babes in bikinis.
The only female human being here is an auntie in her 60s taking a stroll with her husband.
B. asked about the guys.
30 metres to my left, there’s a fat uncle sunbathing alone. And 30m on my right, there are two foreign workers sleeping in the shade. My gosh, I must be the most eligible bachelor on the beach at this very moment!
Hahahaha.
I must have appeared too enthusiastic (and too yao gwee) when I rushed to speak to Leslie (Ong, Director of UnUsUaL Entertainment) last night. I gave him too firm a handshake and gushed, “Thank you so much for inviting me. The food! The foie gras! I can’t get enough!” He was happy to know that I was having a good time. Hahaha.
The kitchen was helmed by Alvin Leong from Hong Kong, who has a Michelin star to his name, and Robert Mondavi Winery kept everyone thrilled with their fine selection of whites and reds, as well as champagne that accompanied the desserts. I don’t take much alcohol usually, but I polished off each and every glass of wine that was offered to me.
Wakin was in the house with a Jazz repertoire- Fly Me to the Moon, Mona Lisa, What A Wonderful World, and his own classics like 「風雨無阻」、「讓我歡喜讓我憂」and 「明天我要嫁給你」。The finale song 「朋友」 had me sniggering though. I half expected him to hold his thumb and pinkie to his ear and go, “Please call the donation hotline 1900 … …”

I hardly attend such events, and I was more than convinced that I don’t belong to the ranks of the elite. Thirty minutes after I devoured the foie gras and other delicacies, I threw up at Raffles City Shopping Centre. We had sneaked out to get a Coke. (Stop rolling your eyes about the Coke bit.) I muttered I felt like puking, and walked to the gents immediately.
I suppose the food was too rich. It wasn’t the alcohol, definitely. My sincere apologies to the chefs.
Let me stick to $2 chicken rice in the meantime.
