Dorin, a friend formerly from the local music industry has been living in Taiwan for a couple of years now. She’s back for a short visit, so Mary and I brought her out for lunch yesterday. Because she was in a hurry, we settled for a coffeeshop in Toa Payoh. She hasn’t had hawker fare for a long time anyway.

Little did I expect her to become a whistle blower! She uploaded a picture of my lunch, which made someone really mad. Hahahaha.

Well, I can explain!

That coffeeshop is famous for its bak chor mee and chicken cutlet. I went through a struggle, ok? I chose protein over carbohydrates! Hahahaha. And I gave all my fries to the whistle blower!

Oh well.

In other news, Andy, the colleague who buys me breakfast everyday was on leave this morning. Cheezi, the Standby Breakfast Buyer was activated. The vegetarian stall wasn’t opened, so she offered to buy the four remaining pieces of chwee kueh in MediaCorp Canteen.

“I regret to inform you that there are only two pieces left. Lucas (MediaCorp CEO) bought two.”

“What? You expect me to survive on two little pieces of chwee kueh? How am I going to do the morning show? How am I going to shout ‘Two Days to Friday’ ” And you mean Lucas eats only two pieces of chwee kueh? Gee. Is that how he stays so trim?”

I peered into the plastic bag to find an addtional chee cheong fun. My SBB insisted that she wasn’t out to starve me before the Awards. Hahaha.

We had a corporate HR workshop the other day. I spotted Huiting and Elaine, and asked if I could sit with them. Huiting, who’s the producer for this year’s Singapore Hit Awards (SHA), looked squarely into my face and said, “You know SHA is just round the corner right? Don’t you think you have something very important to do?”

Two seconds of silence.

Huh?

Oh!

Hahahahahahha!

Ouch.

“Look, I know I gained some weight. Can I not host the awards this year? Can I be the escort and hand out trophies to the award presenters instead?”

No way, she said. She wanted professional good-looking models for that job. She was obviously implying that I’m fat and ugly. Double whammy there.

Fine. I don’t want to risk breaking the trophies anyway. And I don’t want to incur the wrath of said model who violently protested at least twice, “You do your hosting and don’t try to steal my rice bowl!”

We then sat back, as the speaker began his presentation. Part of the session was on Appraisals, which further branched into Key Result Areas (KRAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Shortly before the tea break, we were told to draft several KPIs.

That was when I leaned over to Huiting, “Psst. Let me help you with this. Your KPIs for SHA would ‘No double chin shots for Cruz Teng’ and ‘Wide shots only, no close ups for Cruz Teng’.” Everyone at the table erupted into laughter. She retorted that my KPI was to “make life easier for the production team by losing weight”. Hahahaha.

Three weeks more. We’ll see how it goes.

I’ve requested for black outfits and the best make up artiste in MediaCorp to shade my cheeks and jawline though. Hahha.
