Erm….
19 October 2005 Wednesday | WRM 933就是萬人迷

Miss C commented I sounded very chirpy this morning. Fact is: I was so stoned for the entire three hours. Strolled into the studio with half opened eyes that prompted Lingzhi to ask if I just got up five minutes ago. Truth is, I slept in the cab and when I reached MediaCorp, my eyes were so dry I had problems opening them. Contact lens users would understand what I mean.

But as usual, ten seconds after I said “Wah lao eh! Very sleepy leh!”, I was going “早安!我是志勇。这是933就是万人迷” in my brightest tone. Five points for my, erm, professionalism? Hahaha.

Speaking of “Erm”, I had an email from a lady commenting that I “Erm” too much on air. Deh! Minus ten points.

Yes, my mum has been chiding me for that too. “Can’t you talk properly? Erm so much for what?!”

Don’t know leh.. Think it’s a bad habit. When I need to sort out my thoughts or find the correct phrase to use, my mouth habitually goes “erm” while my brain goes into overdrive. Maybe I should put these signs in front of me the next time I go on air.

Would you guys please monitor my “erm-ing” too and mail me if I continue to “erm” too much?

Thanks =D

How is it? How is it?
8 September 2005 Thursday | WRM 933就是萬人迷

The No 1 question I got this week is “How is it? How is it?

“Like that LOR“. Hahahaha.

Some people get Monday blues. How lucky.

I got the blues all four mornings. You try lah, sleeping at 1am and waking up at 5.30am everyday. And oh, Thursday was blue-r cos of the rain. I hate rainy mornings. :x

But surprisingly the blues disappeared once I stepped out of the shower. Someone must have drugged my taps. I feel so upbeat when I call for a cab at 6am everyday!

The first four mornings on 就是万人迷 were great. I mean I felt great. Talking and laughing through the three hours. I had fun joking around with Enlai on Tuesday, and Dasmond on Thursday and of course my “old flame” and “current date” Lingzhi.

Obviously, I can’t please everybody, but it’s just so fortunate that the critics with negative feedback haven’t actually sent in their two cents’ worth.

When you’re in a job like mine, feedback matters. The “feel good” factor is more relevant, especially when I’m doing mornings. — Why should I torture myself, getting out of bed at 5.30am to face a bunch of people who don’t like me? And so, the sweet sweet emails and SMSes did a lot to effectively pull me out of bed. Please keep that coming.. =D

Some FAQs:

- Why the fruit juice segment at 7.20am?

Erm, because I wanna score in the niche market before the made-over Billy comes back on air…

Hahahahha.. No lah.. Cos fruits are good for us! I didn’t know that strawberries can prevent gum bleeding, and I bet a lot of people don’t know that as well. Fans of Billy might wanna put down your lemons for the time being and tune in to marvel at the effects of other fruits.

- Why the guests?

To spice up the show, I guess. Hee… I was the latest addition to the morning show. The brainstorming show had it all planned, so my job was just to drive a bus packed with passengers, and not pick the passengers to hop onto my bus.

Enlai (of the 东西在哪里。。。我不知道!commercial) will come in on Tuesdays. He will speak entirely in English cos they wanted a bilingual show. Cool. I can practise my Engrish too.

Dasmond comes in on Thursdays. He finally knows what it’s like to wake up that early….

And on Fridays, we’ll do a recap of the news headlines with news anchor Xu Yunling. Tomorrow’s theme will be Disaster Friday. Wah laos, just look at the number of tragedies that happenend this week!

Two FAQs answered so far. Mail me if you’ve more questions… =)

Back to the mornings~
5 September 2005 Monday | WRM 933就是萬人迷

To mark my return to the mornings, I had my ear pierced.

An exchange of SMSes shortly before the piercing:

Me:

Me going to pierce my ear now

V2:

Siao ah? Pierce for f? Hiao ah?

Me:

Ya, I’m Lao Beng… …

I thought of piercing my ear when I was in school, but I never got to do it. Just like I’ve not found a suitable motiff to tattoo on my left arm. I happened to walk past this shop just before dinner, and hey, the decision was made.

The guys at that shop on Level One in CompassPoint were pretty helpful and professional. Since I was a ear-piercing virgin, they explained the point of puncture was strategically positioned so that future piercings will be aligned nicely. Thanks. And I will remember not to take seafood for the next three weeks as they advised.

And thanks to Jan! For the lovely paper flower and chocs to mark my return. Haha.

One morning down, many many more to go~~~~~
