And so, the curtains fell. After months of hard work, Resonance 回音 came to an end.

I feel extremely proud and privileged to be part of this outstanding team- the magnificent group from Y.E.S. 93.3FM, Capital 95.8FM and Love 97.2FM. We are in the broadcasting line and with our powers combined, we can produce and present a radio show in any genre, restricted only by imagination. However, none of us could confidently say we would pull off a production like this. Yes, there are a few who have had theatre experience, but the majority thought of this as scaling Everest.

But we did it.

We had a great time putting this show together. There was the occasional fatigue and tension, but it has culminated in the grandest project the Chinese stations have ever done. It was the first, and possibly the final time, that I was part of an ensemble cast. I don’t have a flair for theatre, and I was given a role purely by virtue of the fact that I work in Singapore’s #1 radio station. That’s it. I totally enjoyed the journey though.

The camaraderie was at an all time high. We had such a splendid time bantering before and after rehearsals. And of course, we got to know one another all over again. All these years, I never realized that Dicong could be so goofy. The anchor of Singapore’s premier news and current affairs morning show was shaking his booty on stage! At the same time, we uncovered Deming‘s fetish for super tight shorts, and confirmed that Fenying wasn’t a very alert woman, after she almost went home in the clogs from her midwife character.

I remember walking past one of the dressing rooms and overheard Ivy sharing an adult joke. I chided her immediately, “Oi! 人家碧玉姐姐是良家妇女！你不要在她面前说这些!” I flipped when Biyu turned and explained that she loved it. And someone gasped when they saw me putting my hand into Mary’s blouse. Oh, come on. She merely wanted me to help remove her microphone! Hahaha. Xiaoying and Lilian brought appliances from home to ensure that everyone had their fill of hot beverages. There was even a coffee corner complete with sugar, milk and disposable cups. Right after I was conned into buying a wrong can of cola from the vending machine outside the theatre, the crew trekked to a convenience store three kilometers away to get me the real thing. That’s right. Only Coke for me. Not some dubious brand with the same white font on red.

Some of the guys from Capital and Love whom I shared a dressing room with, were caught off guard when presented with a pack of cosmetics from M.A.C. “Oh, that bronzer thing is very useful when you need to magically shrink your face on stage. Trust me, I’m an expert in shading.” Hahaha.

And speaking of experts, we have to thank the creative team- the real theatre professionals. Former DJ Baobao handed her script to Judy, which I personally thought was a shrewd move. Seriously, how can anyone make 19 motormouthed DJs shut up and listen? Radio DJs talk for a living, and we process our thoughts mentally and verbally! Hahaha. Judy and Qian Chou must have had it easier working with normal theatre practitioners. And thanks to the formidable Zhiwei, Wenfu, Ashley, Shao’an, Lei Yu, et al- these were some of the top names in local theatre. It was awesome knowing them personally.

We stuck together in the last few months, and we learnt a lot. We achieved a record along the way as well. Resonance is the first full length theatre production staged by radio DJs. But it would mean nothing if we were the only ones thrilled by this. Hours after the Preview on Thursday, we saw positive reviews on the various social media platforms. And before we stepped in for the finale on Sunday, we heard sincere compliments from multiple sources- some even asking for a second run.

The applause wasn’t just for the story and the acting. The cheers came from people who grew up with Radio and made Radio an imperative part of their daily lives. They could relate to various segments of the plot- including sending dedication letters and calling request lines, or listening intently to a radio drama or special segments by their favorite DJs, and of course laughing, crying, or just feeling emotional with their companion on the airwaves.

Resonance is part of our 75th anniversary celebrations. More importantly, it honours the special connection between people on the Radio and people listening to the Radio. You don’t need a PhD in media studies to conclude that no other medium can replicate that.

我的好同事Tintin在演出前忙張羅，只因為我嫌棄之前的東西。“哇靠，這是甚麼牌子的薯片？怎麼那麼難吃？！” （她自己試過之後，也十分唾棄。）劇中的播音室設在離地面三、四米的平台，她們十分擔心我會摔死，所以特意加強保護措施。哈哈哈。

哎唷，我一個小小的配角就讓她們忙成這樣。真是不好意思。

The Singapore Radio Awards will be held tonight. It’s glamour frenzy on Caldecott Hill as nominees from the various stations prepare for the biggest night in Radio. I’ve had people wanting to know if I think I would win for the fifth consecutive time, and there were those who skipped that introductory question and dived in to ask if I have prepared my acceptance speech.

The truth is, I’ve been too busy in the last couple of weeks to be really absorbed in this mania. It was only yesterday that I decided on my outfit. I’m going for the classic look- which actually means, “no time to explore and experiment with colours and textures, hence the safest (and perhaps boring) look possible.” Nothing can go wrong- unless I trip and fall on the red carpet. The worst remark I can think of would be, “Well groomed, but still fat.” Hahaha. And frankly, the results would have been tabulated and audited by now, so it doesn’t matter whether I wear red briefs or black boxers tonight.

Contrary to what you might expect, I’m really not that optimistic like everyone else. Firstly, it’s because I’m obviously not operating at optimal levels like before. And secondly, there has been a change in the rules. I have no idea who the judges are. There was absolutely no chance of me sleeping with anyone, even if I wanted to. Yep, the Singapore Radio Awards remains scandal-free.

Before the results are announced, allow me to thank you for your love and support. That, in itself, is much more valuable than any trophy. I would be nothing if you hadn’t tuned in to the morning show every single day. And oh yes, the actual voting is rather important too. Thank you.

Singapore Radio Awards 2011 will be telecast ‘live’ on Channel 5 at 7.30pm tonight.

新加坡不是現今中文樂壇最重要的市場。下來的五十年、一百年，我們或許也只有當配角的份。叱吒樂壇的“周、王、林、孫、蔡、梁”在本地的銷量如何？真的是“還好而已”。本地廠商願意付出的代言費與唱酬有多少？同樣也是“還好而已”。唱片公司與經紀公司的區域總部自然會把注意力放在更龐大、更賺錢的地方，包括主導整個亞洲中文音樂走向的台灣，以及商機無限的中國內地。

另外，「台灣金曲獎」有政府單位新聞局當靠山；香港第一個音樂典禮「十大中文金曲」 由官方資助的香港電台推動；中國大陸各城市的音樂頒獎典禮的背後有無數個自願掏錢的大金主。不利因素很多，但那統統不是藉口。當年的933團隊非常勇敢，下定決心打造屬於新加坡的音樂盛典。前人播下了種子，後人就要細心灌溉。

這些年，933在很有限的空間用心做事。推動本地樂壇發展的宗旨始終如一。今年針對典禮的評語大致上是偏向正面的。謝謝。的確是有一些美中不足的地方，我們會加以檢討。不只是局外的你，局內的我們也常對於一些事進行激烈討論。每一次典禮後的會議，大家都坦誠及不留情面地說出最真實、最深入的觀察。目的只有一個：就是希望「新加坡金曲獎」越辦越好。那是責任的問題。“加油！”不只是口號。我們真的會努力更上一層樓。

第17屆「新加坡金曲獎」是我主持的第10場音樂典禮，也是有孫燕姿出現的第6場。那麼多年，那麼多場活動。我們算是認識，但不是“朋友”。也因為大概知道她在台上的“pattern”, 所以比較敢做一些事。

開場後不久，孫燕姿讓身邊的人傳話。她認為我的髮型很難看。呃，OK⋯⋯ 我之後在頒“最佳演繹男女歌手獎”的時候敘述了她的這番話。

隨後頒發“頂尖金曲”，我在她致詞之後攪局，問她有甚麼話要對老公說。

她笑了，也佯裝打人。我再接再勵：“You can speak English. We are all bilingual.” 大家笑得更大聲。

果然是經歷過不少大場面的人，她笑著回應：“Your hair is very nice. Thanks.” HAHAHAHAHAHA!

有人嚇呆了。“你那麼做，她不會生氣嗎？！” 哎唷，她在談戀愛的時候，我那麼努力地在那麼多場記者會幫她擋掉那麼多戀情的問題。她知道我不會害她的啦。而且現在都結婚了，應該不會介意啦。

還是要確認一下。在謝幕時，我走了過去。

丁志勇：Just now that part, you not angry right?
孫燕姿：Aiyo, where got so petty?
丁志勇：Heng ah.
孫燕姿：I say your hair not nice, you not angry right?
丁志勇：Aiyo, where got so petty?

Heh.

最近有點忙。很久沒有這樣了。呵呵。幾個星期前i周刊的那段訪問，我說我的戰鬥力不處於最高水平。沒錯，我想過得輕鬆自在，只做我喜歡做的事，不做我不喜歡做的事。步伐放慢，是我今年不斷重複的幾個字。

那天主持一場記者會，幾名圈內朋友驚呼：

“哇，很久沒有看到你了！你很久沒有出來做活動了hor?”

我微笑。

“你是不要做huh? 還是選show做？小的不做，只做大的是嗎？”

我繼續笑，眼睛瞇成一條線。

“還是沒有人找你？人氣下滑是嗎？哎喲！”

我忍不住哈哈大笑。

“不要緊啦。那個誰在那邊，我叫她幫你炒一則新聞啦。最近有沒有人暗戀你？還是你有沒有暗戀誰？”

我很誇張地在她面前翻白眼。

“你shut up。活動要開始了，你不要distract我。”

我知道那位朋友是在開玩笑。回到家裡，我就想：可能圈內圈外也有不少人有這樣的想法，只是沒有當著我的面說吧？可能因為少了各種曝光，人家真的以為我的市場價值怎麼怎麼了。我聳聳肩。就算是怎麼怎麼了，也是自己一手造成的。無怨無悔。哈哈。我不在意這個。我只是擔心這樣下去，我會越來越懶惰。而且刀不磨不利，還是（暫時）重回那種成天拋頭露面的生活吧。

於是，我就拼了。 11月有30天，我做足29天。

11月5日：MeRadio Rocks The Marina!

我今早在空中說，我要改名叫Cruz Rocker Teng。幾年前有一場F1 Rocks，現在又有一場MeRadio Rocks。名稱有Rocks的活動都找我？哈哈。這是配合廣播75所主辦的大型演唱會，多組本地歌手將輪番上陣。各台會派出主持人，我是中文台的唯一代表。好的，我會盡量洛克到底。雖然我沒有皮革服飾。

11月12日：第十七屆新加坡金曲獎頒獎典禮

籌備工作幾個月前展開。金曲獎執行委員會名單上有我的名字。今年做的事和往年不一樣，幾位出席藝人的邀請函是我發的。很慶幸的是，這個團隊上上下下都很熟悉我的工作方式。曾在多方連線的電話會議中大吼：“Wah piang, 為什麼要這樣？！不～要～啦！這是誰的idea？可以不～要～嗎？” 掛了電話後才意識到那主意可能來自高層，我竟然那麼不識相，還強調了幾次“不～要～啦！”。哎喲，真是不好意思。

另外，我收回我去年說過的話。今年，我依然是大會司儀。我依舊在典禮前的一個月開始做我每年習慣做的事：

－挖出所有該看的資料，背好所有該記的重點。
－熟悉每一名入圍者和出席者的概況，只差沒去查他們的祖宗十八代。
－到處打聽典禮導播的身份，然後託人帶話：”拍到我，麻煩用wide shot，不要zoom in k。”
－到處打聽造型師的身份，然後託人帶話：“黑色西裝是best的啦。最好不要白啦hor。”
－洗牙，並帶回漂白牙齒的工具箱。每天花一個多小時坐著，確保自己不會誤吞那些化學物質。
－買磨膚膏和面膜。這些都是平日該做的，不過⋯⋯
－將頭髮染回黑色。之前的髮色太淺了，使用的Blue Black染料無法全面吸收，現在居然變成了暗暗的紫藍色。不行，下週再染過。

今年增加的：
－考慮要用傳統的手卡(cue cards)，還是用iPad。這年頭很多人都有平板電腦，應該不會有人認為我在炫耀吧？

11月25日：第六屆新加坡金麥獎頒獎典禮

以往的典禮，我們都輕鬆出席。 “啊？入圍啊？Ok⋯⋯ 啊？拉票啊？Ok⋯⋯ 啊？出席啊？Ok⋯⋯”

今年的籌委會非常積極想出很多新花樣。除了拍拉票視頻，上週還有媒體訪問，然後今天剛去拍了入圍片段，下週還有電視預告。哇！今年真是非常大陣仗。 （頒獎典禮將通過新傳媒5頻道現場直播，到時請留意。）

“呃，導播是誰huh? 到時沒有帶到我的shot，不要緊leh。可是如果要拍我hor, 記得要wide shot, 不要zoom in hor。Usual啦。”

往年都有“Private Post Party”。我贏了，我請客；沒贏的話，就讓他們請客。今年無法party了，因為隔天要彩排。

12月2－4日： 舞台劇《回音》

我在這部舞台劇裡扮演一名路人。一名有7、8頁話稿，相當多話的路人。現場演出不容許任何差錯，我們所有人都了解彩排的重要性。我只想說，很～不～簡～單。你想喔，我才那幾分鐘的戲，就已經那麼忙了，主要演員花的時間不是更驚人嗎？請支持933、958、972三台DJ首次聯手打造的《回音》。請到SISTIC買票。謝謝。

12月： 請自己喊 It’s Friday

舞台劇之後，馬上回營受訓。接著飛北京過聖誕。(好像就要截止訂位了。如果你想和我一起吃北京烤鴨，逛故宮、天壇、頤和園，還有滑雪、放煙火，請盡快行動吧) 回來後，要馬上準備《933醉心龍虎榜2011頂尖一百》，然後可能要主持一場跨年活動。

Polling for the Singapore Radio Awards ends at 11.59pm.

Apart from the actual SMS-ing, my friends have been quick to appoint themselves as members of the Gimme a Five campaigning team. Their desire for me to win exceed my own enthusiasm. In fact, a number of them objected to my post on the interim results. “How can you tell people you’re leading? Then your supporters will get complacent! Or they might think they do not have to continue voting since others are SMS-ing for you!”

That makes some sense. Hahaha.

Several listeners like Y. below sent me screenshots of their phone.

And because the system sends a MMS (ie my face as a mobile wallpaper- *slap forehead*) for every vote received, some of my friends were disturbed over the number of times their phones were beeping.

In addition, I would like to take this chance to clarify a rumour.

That’s not true. I still have some space! Hahahahaha.

I think the voting process is more significant than the actual awards ceremony. The outpour of support has been incredible. The polling mechanics are here.
