It’s summer in June, and I’ve read that temperatures should hover around a comfortable 20 degrees. With a S$1:€1.6 exchange rate (as at this morning), it’s probably the best time to head to Europe, if you’ve never been to this beautiful continent. For repeat visitors, there’s the Floriade 2012- held once every TEN years. And I don’t have to tell you about the shopping in Paris, do I? Hahaha. Join me in Europe this June!

DAY 1 SINGAPORE – FRANKFURT

Assemble at Singapore Changi Airport before you embark on your flight to Frankfurt.
DAY 2 FRANKFURT – COLOGNE – DUSSELDORF
(Meals on Board/Pork Knuckle Lunch/Dinner)
Upon arrival, proceed to Cologne to explore one of the most fascinating old towns in the country, as well as the Gothic Cathedral, one of the most magnificent cathedrals within the country. Thereafter, transfer to Dusseldorf for your overnight stay.

DAY 3 DUSSELDORF – VENLO– AMSTERDAM

In the morning, embark on a scenic drive to Venlo to visit the internationally-renowned Floriade 2012 – World Horticultural Expo. Floriade 2012 is held only once every 10 years, presenting a rare opportunity for you to engage in a global spectacle featuring over 100 unique exhibitors showcasing their individual horticultural expertise. In the afternoon, depart for Amsterdam and proceed to Dam Square, the very same location where the Amstel River was dammed during the 13th century, which also gave rise to the city’s name. Next, also take a tour of the old Royal Palace, the New Church and the National Monument around the square.

DAY 4 AMSTERDAM

Today, head to Zaanse Schans, a Dutch village dotted with windmills and cottages. Take this opportunity to visit a cheese farm and watch a live wooden clog-making demonstration. Thereafter, return to Amsterdam to enjoy a canal cruise. Relax onboard a glass-domed motor launch cruising down canals flanked by gabled houses. Next, visit a diamond house in Amsterdam and see master craftsmen working on exquisite diamonds. Enjoy free time at leisure for photo taking or shopping.

DAY 5 AMSTERDAM – BRUGES – BRUSSELS

This morning, journey to the medieval canal city of Bruges, also known as Venice of the North, with its historic centre listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Be intrigued by the 83-metre tall Belfry at the Market Square, the 14th-century City Hall, and Welcome Church of Our Lady, with one of Europe’s highest spires. Spend the day at leisure to explore this scenic town. You may wish to take a boat ride along the picturesque canals or visit a brewery for a taste of Belgian beer if time permits, at your own expense. In the evening, head on to Brussels, capital of Belgium.

DAY 6 BRUSSELS – PARIS

After breakfast, your first stop will be the magnificent Atomium. Drive by Royal Palace of Laeken before arriving in the city to see the mascot of Brussels, Manneken Pis, the 16th and 17th-century Market Square and the beautiful Grand Palace. Next, proceed to Paris, City of Lights. In the evening, you may wish to take an excursion cruise along the famous River Seine at your own expense.

DAY 7 PARIS
(Breakfast/French Dinner)
Today, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Louvre Museum. The Louvre, originally a palace but now transformed into one of the largest, most-visited museums in the world, is a must-see for anyone with an interest in art. Some of the museum’s most famous artworks are the Mona Lisa and the Venus of Milo. Next, take in the sights of Napoleon’s Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees Boulevard and Place de la Concorde as you advance on your city tour. View the famous Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral, one of the most magnificent masterpieces of gothic architecture. Thereafter, visit Fragonard Perfumery, one of the largest perfumeries in France and a great place to purchase exclusive French scents at affordable prices. Spend your time at leisure in the afternoon or indulge in shopping. This evening, enjoy a get-together dinner with Y.E.S. 93.3FM DJ Cruz Teng and newfound friends.

DAY 8 PARIS

Today, spend the day at leisure to explore this city. You may wish to visit the famous Palace of Versailles at your own expense.

DAY 9 PARIS – SINGAPORE
(Breakfast/Meals on Board)
If time permits, you may wish to do some last-minute shopping before you transfer to the airport for your flight home.
