933、958、972三台DJ史無前例跨台合作，舞台劇「回音」即將在星期五盛大公演。我在劇中扮演一名90年代的DJ，就把自己想像為許振榮。呵呵。劇情所需，我在開麥前猛吃東西。原本只是意思意思吃兩口，但導演Judy嫌我說話太快，要我多吃點。嗯，因為害怕哽死，邊吃東西邊說台詞速度果然慢很多。

我的好同事Tintin在演出前忙張羅，只因為我嫌棄之前的東西。“哇靠，這是甚麼牌子的薯片？怎麼那麼難吃？！” （她自己試過之後，也十分唾棄。）劇中的播音室設在離地面三、四米的平台，她們十分擔心我會摔死，所以特意加強保護措施。哈哈哈。

哎唷，我一個小小的配角就讓她們忙成這樣。真是不好意思。

第一次有人在典禮前的十分鐘通風報信：“待會兒公佈的時候，要有心理準備。今年的贏家不是你。”第一次有人提議乾脆缺席：“反正沒贏獎，留下可能尷尬。你要面對媒體的訪問嗎？走吧。”

呵呵。這麼做的話，我丁志勇這些年不是白混了嗎？

沒得獎。但有你、你、你⋯⋯ 所有的你們，我心存感激。

始終都有WOOHOO！的理由。謝謝。

I’m back from the morning show. I should really get a quick nap or something but I thought I’d drop you a short note- just like I did the last few times.

The Singapore Radio Awards will be held tonight. It’s glamour frenzy on Caldecott Hill as nominees from the various stations prepare for the biggest night in Radio. I’ve had people wanting to know if I think I would win for the fifth consecutive time, and there were those who skipped that introductory question and dived in to ask if I have prepared my acceptance speech.

The truth is, I’ve been too busy in the last couple of weeks to be really absorbed in this mania. It was only yesterday that I decided on my outfit. I’m going for the classic look- which actually means, “no time to explore and experiment with colours and textures, hence the safest (and perhaps boring) look possible.” Nothing can go wrong- unless I trip and fall on the red carpet. The worst remark I can think of would be, “Well groomed, but still fat.” Hahaha. And frankly, the results would have been tabulated and audited by now, so it doesn’t matter whether I wear red briefs or black boxers tonight.

Contrary to what you might expect, I’m really not that optimistic like everyone else. Firstly, it’s because I’m obviously not operating at optimal levels like before. And secondly, there has been a change in the rules. I have no idea who the judges are. There was absolutely no chance of me sleeping with anyone, even if I wanted to. Yep, the Singapore Radio Awards remains scandal-free.

Before the results are announced, allow me to thank you for your love and support. That, in itself, is much more valuable than any trophy. I would be nothing if you hadn’t tuned in to the morning show every single day. And oh yes, the actual voting is rather important too. Thank you.

Singapore Radio Awards 2011 will be telecast ‘live’ on Channel 5 at 7.30pm tonight.

第17屆「新加坡金曲獎」頒獎典禮圓滿落幕。去年同一活動，我無精打采。今年卻異常興奮。我懷疑有人在我食物里下藥。呵呵。

新加坡不是現今中文樂壇最重要的市場。下來的五十年、一百年，我們或許也只有當配角的份。叱吒樂壇的“周、王、林、孫、蔡、梁”在本地的銷量如何？真的是“還好而已”。本地廠商願意付出的代言費與唱酬有多少？同樣也是“還好而已”。唱片公司與經紀公司的區域總部自然會把注意力放在更龐大、更賺錢的地方，包括主導整個亞洲中文音樂走向的台灣，以及商機無限的中國內地。

另外，「台灣金曲獎」有政府單位新聞局當靠山；香港第一個音樂典禮「十大中文金曲」 由官方資助的香港電台推動；中國大陸各城市的音樂頒獎典禮的背後有無數個自願掏錢的大金主。不利因素很多，但那統統不是藉口。當年的933團隊非常勇敢，下定決心打造屬於新加坡的音樂盛典。前人播下了種子，後人就要細心灌溉。

這些年，933在很有限的空間用心做事。推動本地樂壇發展的宗旨始終如一。今年針對典禮的評語大致上是偏向正面的。謝謝。的確是有一些美中不足的地方，我們會加以檢討。不只是局外的你，局內的我們也常對於一些事進行激烈討論。每一次典禮後的會議，大家都坦誠及不留情面地說出最真實、最深入的觀察。目的只有一個：就是希望「新加坡金曲獎」越辦越好。那是責任的問題。“加油！”不只是口號。我們真的會努力更上一層樓。

第17屆「新加坡金曲獎」是我主持的第10場音樂典禮，也是有孫燕姿出現的第6場。那麼多年，那麼多場活動。我們算是認識，但不是“朋友”。也因為大概知道她在台上的“pattern”, 所以比較敢做一些事。

開場後不久，孫燕姿讓身邊的人傳話。她認為我的髮型很難看。呃，OK⋯⋯ 我之後在頒“最佳演繹男女歌手獎”的時候敘述了她的這番話。

隨後頒發“頂尖金曲”，我在她致詞之後攪局，問她有甚麼話要對老公說。

她笑了，也佯裝打人。我再接再勵：“You can speak English. We are all bilingual.” 大家笑得更大聲。

果然是經歷過不少大場面的人，她笑著回應：“Your hair is very nice. Thanks.” HAHAHAHAHAHA!

有人嚇呆了。“你那麼做，她不會生氣嗎？！” 哎唷，她在談戀愛的時候，我那麼努力地在那麼多場記者會幫她擋掉那麼多戀情的問題。她知道我不會害她的啦。而且現在都結婚了，應該不會介意啦。

還是要確認一下。在謝幕時，我走了過去。

丁志勇：Just now that part, you not angry right?
孫燕姿：Aiyo, where got so petty?
丁志勇：Heng ah.
孫燕姿：I say your hair not nice, you not angry right?
丁志勇：Aiyo, where got so petty?

Heh.

It’s no secret that I long to (temporarily) live overseas. I had even browsed several immigration websites to see the sort of employment passes they issue. Most of the places I want to go to only need blue collar types- plumbers, electricians, miners (!), and construction workers- none of which I am capable of. And there are those looking for people in the financial sector. Damn, if only I had paid more attention in school back then.

I have friends who have relocated to different parts of the world.
- D. is an entrepreneur in Perth;
- Y. is yet another entrepreneur working in Shanghai;
- C. and I. are diplomats based in Beijing;
- E. does events in Dubai;
- M. runs a business with his brother in Bangkok;
- H. is an expat wife in Auckland; and others who have (permanently) settled down with their spouses in Taipei, Hong Kong, Manchester, Amsterdam, etc.

And it is with total envy as I see A. packing for the United States. (I mentioned this before- he works in one of the biggest companies in the world, and he’s aced a relocation there. And we’re really really happy for him.)

Before the actual move, he was there for a week for a handover, and he took the opportunity to look at some accommodation options. You know he’s a great guy when he said that he’s considering a two-storey house in the suburbs. Plenty of space for visiting friends and family, he gushed. To which, I wryly remarked, “Did you watch ‘Scream’?” Hahaha.

He saw a beautifully decorated loft in the city- perfect for a bachelor (and whoever he brings back to the apartment for the night) but rather inconvenient for guests, and was therefore contemplating against it. “Of course you should get that place! How often are people going to fly more than 20 hours to see you? And if they do, have them stay elsewhere! Your comfort should be the top priority!” That’s coming from a person who will book himself in a five star hotel when he visits.

Speaking of which, I had been very enthusiastic in planning a trip to the States in the next one to two years, “This is rather premature- you haven’t even left! But erm, I wanna check something. I just need you to check in with me, in order to utilise your corporate discount, right? I don’t “need you” for the entire duration, should I decide to stay in New York City for a month or so, right?” Moments after he replied in the affirmative, I thought I ought to explain that I wasn’t a nasty leech taking advantage of him (and his corporate discount). At least, I wasn’t one of those who wanted his residential address for the “free-delivery-within-US-only” online shopping!

We had a dinner with him last Friday, and he checked off the amazing facilities in his new office- including a gym with an awesome view. “People on the treadmill would see deer darting around. And once in a while, a clumsy one would tumble down the hill and hit itself against the glass window of the gym.” “OH DEER(dear)!” I exclaimed. HAHAHAHAHHA!

I think it’d be a wonderful experience to live in a foreign city and totally immerse oneself in a different culture. That’s why I like reading Story of Bing. I look forward to the day I can do a Woohoo! Elsewhere.
