Last chance to Gimme a Five.
30 October 2011 Sunday | Singapore Radio Awards 2011

Polling for the Singapore Radio Awards ends at 11.59pm.

Apart from the actual SMS-ing, my friends have been quick to appoint themselves as members of the Gimme a Five campaigning team. Their desire for me to win exceed my own enthusiasm. In fact, a number of them objected to my post on the interim results. “How can you tell people you’re leading? Then your supporters will get complacent! Or they might think they do not have to continue voting since others are SMS-ing for you!”

That makes some sense. Hahaha.

Several listeners like Y. below sent me screenshots of their phone.

And because the system sends a MMS (ie my face as a mobile wallpaper- *slap forehead*) for every vote received, some of my friends were disturbed over the number of times their phones were beeping.

In addition, I would like to take this chance to clarify a rumour.

That’s not true. I still have some space! Hahahahaha.

I think the voting process is more significant than the actual awards ceremony. The outpour of support has been incredible. The polling mechanics are here.

Thank you very much.

Meiwen from I Weekly called with the news that I was leading in the Most Popular DJ Category. I hemmed and hawed over the possibility of another win. I don’t know, really.

I’ll leave you to decide if you wanna Gimme a Five. :)

I ♥ her. She ♥ me. Hahaha.
25 October 2011 Tuesday | -

Ann Kok came for an interview today and I scribbled her a message on the studio whiteboard. I didn’t expect her to reply. Hahahaha.

Catch Ann on Kampong Ties 甘榜情 at 7pm and The Oath 行醫 at 9pm on Channel 8.

Fat Face meets Fat Fingers

OK, that made me laugh out loud for a second.

But I felt deeply insulted. Fine, I’m not that lean. But you really shouldn’t go around promoting your products like that.

Error in SRA voting video
14 October 2011 Friday | Singapore Radio Awards 2011

You must have heard by now that the Singapore Radio Awards [Website | Facebook] will be held in November.

We were asked to do a video recording for the award polling last month.

Well, I am vain and lazy at the same time. I won’t allow anyone to take pictures or videos if I’m not groomed for the camera. I did bring along my stuff, but I was feeling particularly sluggish that morning. That is why I’m the only person who didn’t appear in the voting vids- the finger isn’t mine, in case you were wondering.

I had a gleeful smirk when the videos were published. “People who are none the wiser will think that I’m rather creative!” They have no idea that they are complimenting someone with Sloth as a middle name.

And then, I discovered an error.

I’m feeling a little self conscious, but here goes: I’d won the Award four times, not just three times, okay? Hahahaha.

This is an atrocious start to the campaign. Let’s start all over again.

Once again, I’m nominated. Well, it’s actually kind of like a default thing, since I’m on air from Mondays to Fridays.

You guys made me Y.E.S. 93.3FM’s Most Popular DJ the last four times *palm on heart*, giving my résumé (and ego) an incredible boost. If you have enjoyed the morning show, and have been looking forward to counting down to Friday with me, or if I’d done something right somewhere, then I guess you won’t hesitate to send a SMS.

Or Two. Or Ten. Or Twenty. *fist on chest*

If you wanna gimme a five, please SMS SRA 47 Your Name & NRIC to 72346. (Please note the space between SRA and 47.)

Fine print:
Each SMS costs $0.30.
Only for Singapore SIM cards, not open to pre-paid card users.
Voting ends 30 Oct.
SMSes constitute 60% of the overall score- something new this year.
You will receive a wallpaper with my face on it. Please delete that- I can’t imagine anyone using that- and not let it deter you from sending multiple SMSes.

I stand a chance to get a trophy, and you might win a weekend stay at Capella Singapore, where you can frolic in a garden villa for two nights and enjoy a Sunday brunch at The Knolls.

I know that a couple of DJs have promised to do something at the end of the day. Divian from 987fm, for instance, will get a full body wax on camera if he wins. You know I don’t do stunts like that. In fact, I’m not even going to be around after the Radio Awards to show my appreciation, because I’ll be doing two weeks of In Camp Training and then spending Christmas in Beijing.

Seriously, why would anyone vote for a DJ who is always absent? Ouch.

I realise I’m not good at telling people WHY you should vote for me. This is in reality a HOW to vote entry. I’ll leave you to look for a reason that’s convincing enough for yourself.

Thank you. :)
