Help! WordPress maestros needed!
29 March 2011 Tuesday | -

Update: Ah… All the helpful people around. Friends, friends of friends, as well as blog and twitter followers were quick to lend a helping hand. Problem solved. But it’ll take a while for me to import everything back. Meantime, thanks everybody- especially Von and Elyn! :D

Following that spam link injection, I had to clean things up.

And so, I decided to wipe out everything and install a fresh copy of WordPress. I had exported my blog entries by year and is in the midst of manually deleting those links. *panting*

The problem now is I can’t seem to import the cleaned up entries back here. I suspect it’s got something to do with permissions somewhere, because I had no problems importing the XML into another wordpress.com blog- a temporary site I registered just so I could experiment with the import/export thing.

At the same time, I can’t seem to activate some of the plugins- like Tweet & Like. The message is I ‘do not have sufficient permissions to access this page’.

People with the faintest idea of what I’m talking about— I NEED YOUR HELP, PLEASE! How should I import everything back?! Please drop me an email (cruz.zhiyong [at] gmail.com). Thank you.

我肥来了
25 March 2011 Friday | 2011/03 Sydney

I like Sydney for its positive cosmopolitan vibes. There were so many people from different countries and cultures, and no one seemed particularly out of place- not in those parts I went to anyway. But it certainly is an expensive city. I judge this from the price of Coca-Cola from vending machines and convenience stores, and I couldn’t help but gasp when a five minute taxi ride cost me A$10.

It’s a good thing I didn’t overeat while I was there. Heh.

I usually check in via the internet, so I was surprised to receive this from SQ. All the other guys (under the same booking) didn’t get the SMS, and I wasn’t some PPS member. Hmmmm.

That ang moh Xiao Qiang was huge.

I know the Aussies get off work very early. But do they have to turn off the hotspots? Haha.

And I’m wondering if the damned spam injectors managed to do the job via these unsecured wifi connections. Bah.

Question about Aussie coins.

Note: www.cruzteng.com was hit by some spam link injection attack. There are nasty links all over the place, leading you to dubious sites to buy sex meds and whatnots. I just got back and need some time to clean things up. In the meantime, please don’t click on any of those links.

From left to right: A$1.00, A$0.20, A$0.10, A$0.05 and A$2.00.

Don’t you think it’s a little odd that the A$2.00 coin is so tiny, compared to the huge ass A$0.20 one?

Sydney Day 3
22 March 2011 Tuesday | 2011/03 Sydney

I told them I wouldn’t be joining them for breakfast on Tuesday morning. I went to bed at about 3.33am, and I was desperate to get more sleep before the first appointment at 10am.

I discovered that a plain old internet connection on my laptop wasn’t sufficient any longer. Yes, I needed the LAN connection to blog, but I also had to have my iPhone connected so that I could WhatsApp and do the usual stuff. People told me about the internet sharing and network creation thingy the night before, and that sort of sealed my fate- no early nights for me!

Again, we did what we were supposed to do in the morning. Then G. and I broke away from the group. We had known each other for years, but never had the chance to sit down for a proper meal together. It was a rare hour long men’s talk.

The restaurant we went to was like an exact replica of the dim sum places in Hong Kong. They spoke Cantonese, Mandarin, and of course English. Everything tasted so good. And the custard bun (流砂包) was different from the ones I had in Hong Kong and Singapore. Instead of a white fluffy exterior, it came with a baked brown crust, similar to a 叉烧酥。 Absolutely delicious.

Mindful of the fact that I had splurged away a fortune in the last three months, I left them to shop to their hearts’ delight and made my way back to the apartment.

I need my afternoon naps- no matter where I am!

I found out later that they did the same thing one after another. Hahaha.

Darling Harbour is beautiful. I could have squatted by the wharf and munched on a miserable burger, and not complain.

But they wouldn’t do that to me, obviously.

Prawns, lobsters, crabs, crayfish, oysters, salmon, mussels… The seafood platter we had was stunning.
