I declared on air this morning that my role model for the coming year is Mr. Andy Lau. (It’s obviously not because I’m watching his concert in Hong Kong next Monday, and subsequently hosting his movie events in Singapore next month.)
I had been absent for lengthy periods this year. It was caused by fatigue surely, but the inertia along with other lame excuses also caused a further unwillingness to push myself. It came to the extent that I see myself as an expendable sometimes. Really. Apart from the usual major projects that my name is customarily tagged to, I didn’t see a need to explore new boundaries, or even resume the high levels of activity that I was accustomed to in the initial stages of my career.
In simple English, a slacker who slacks becomes more slack.
Instead of listing specific resolutions for 2011, I think I should change the way I behave. Andy Lau hits 50 next September. And I will turn 32 in the same month. Uh huh.
Who am I to complain of exhaustion when this guy is still working so hard? What reasons do I have for my double chin when this guy is showing off his tight body on stage?
I’ll never be as rich and handsome as Andy Lau. I just need some of his perseverance, determination and self discipline.
2011 will be great, I think.
