WOOHOO! 8D7N TPE HKG New Year Extravaganza
27 December 2010 Monday | 17:52 | 2010/12 - 2011/01 Taipei & Hong Kong

Well, the pompous sounding name is just to spice things up. I’m officially in a holiday mood right now and I just have to pull through one more day of work before I board the plane on Wednesday morning.

I had a great time in Taipei last NYE, and I am rather determined to celebrate New Year’s Day in a foreign city henceforth. This is the second consecutive year I’m doing this. Future trips will materialise only if I have enough cash and company.

We’re doing two cities this time because of the awesome offer by Cathay Pacific. Highlights of my WOOHOO! New Year Extravaganza (W!NYE):

Part 1: TAIPEI

- 大河!大河!大河!大河! Thanks to a certain Mr Hsiao, I had a fantastic meal on the second day of 2010. It is only appropriate that I end the year at this awesome place. I’m taking all seven members of the WNYE, and two friends who are also there on their honeymoon.

- Countdown at Taipei 101. They promise a remarkable show this year, 2011 being the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China (also known as the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution, if you are speaking to people from People’s Republic of China.) Mayday is performing from 11pm-12am, and A*Mei (!) takes to the stage immediately after the countdown. Woah!

- Roadtrip to Hsinchu. I know nuts about the place, except that their beehoon is really famous. I hope it’s going to be interesting.

Part 2: HONG KONG

- Gucci. Vuitton. Armani. The prices there are astonishing attractive.

- Andy Lau. Months before this, I proposed watching a concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum. “It doesn’t matter who’s singing. Tickets are way cheaper (than Singapore’s) and I’ve never been there. They always have elaborate staging, costumes, and stunts. Any average person would put up a rather decent show.” It’s not some average person we’re talking about here. It’s Andy Lau! We’re really lucky to secure tickets to this sold out event.

I don’t think I’ll have any problems staying connected while I’m away- updates on this blog, Twitter or Instagram. Meantime, enjoy the rest of 2010. And have a terrific year ahead.
