Extremely traumatised right now.
Driving out from the office, I saw a pigeon on the road. It wasn’t the first time, so I slowed down a little for it to fly away.
To my utmost horror, it didn’t! I felt a nasty crunch- my left rear wheel ran over the pigeon. And from my side mirror, I saw the poor bird get up before making its way to the road divider.
I didn’t stop immediately. I was too shocked.
“What the f just happened? Why didn’t the pigeon fly off? Didn’t I slow down enough?”
“Do I hit and run? Do I go back? What if it isn’t dead? I bring it to a vet? What can they do? Shit! I’m a murderer!”
I finally found a U turn sign…
There it was, lying motionless on the tarmac ground. A car was tailgating me- I was doing 20km/h on the first lane. I didn’t stop.
Extremely traumatised. Damn.

There’s nothing you could have done since it didn’t fly away and since it didn’t fly away, it was probably a sick bird already. Haiz, just pray for it bah.

i did that once, and ended crying coz i was so traumatised by the fact i ran over a bird.
then someone told me, for a bird that can fly, if it saw the car and didn’t, and you’ve slowed/stopped/moved to the side and it still allowed itself to be run over, then you’ve done all you could. dont be too upset by it.

dun be upset.. Perhaps u can buy some bird seeds as an offering to the pigeon..
i knocked down a cat before. It just dash across the road and I’m unable to stop as the car at the back of me is too close (express way). The corpse was there when I go to work the next day and I’m so sad.

i almost ran across a cat during my driving lesson once. was still traumatized after that cuz i realized how i could have killed it.

I seriously thinks that ALL pigeons have suicidal characteristics. There was this once, I’m standing in a bus stop waiting for bus. This whole bunch of pigeons just stand still on the road in front of the bus-stop.
When a bus came, slowed down, beam its lights abit, about 70% of the pigeons flew off. The rest of the 30% just stayed there, with a few kroo-kroo sounds, and …….. went under the wheels.
I stared at despair, especially when the red colour liquids spilled out under the wheels to the bus stop. I couldn’t do anything anyway.
note: those who waits for buses at the bus stop at Queensway MRT stations, should had experienced the same encounter as me before.
I think most ppl will say that I’m dumb but, this is exactly the reason why I do not want to get a driving license. I really can’t bear to kill living things on the road, and on the road, if you think otherwise for them, you will harm those behind you…or in your car. No good.
And yeah, I encounter pigeons that really don’t fly away and when I see em too close to the car, I will just close my eyes and walk AWAY from the scene…bth lar…>.<
