   May I know when/how is the list of nominations tabulated? How come even Chen Weilian gets nominated with 《走唱 陈伟联》, released only this month, for Best Local Singer?

     It’s within the qualifying period 1 Aug 08 – 31 Jul 09. The physical album was released in Aug 09, but a digital release was avail from Jul 09. The list of nominees is determined by a panel of local preliminary judges, and audited by an auditing firm.

       lol… izzit becoz Best Local Singer not much ppl so just put Chen Weilian inside to fill up the space? But i dun think that is the reason as within that year, there are quite a few local singers releasing album. Maybe 何维健 or 黄靖伦 can make it in too. This is actually very unfair to other local singers. Actually is just only digital release but the songs are not actually in the chart during that year. I think partly is also becoz Weilian got go for this special event so 933 put him in ba…

         As explained, the nomination list is based on a round of preliminary judging. There are more than 5 entries per category, and the rules and regulations for each category have been made known to all record companies before the event kicked off.

         While this entire process is wholly transparent within the industry, it may not be necessarily be made known to the public. This information can be made available though, through formal requests.

         As with each and every award ceremony/ competition, there are bound to be guidelines. The outcome of these may or may not satisfy everyone, but it is the objective and intention of the Committee to level the playing field.

         For the record, the number of digital releases have soared on an annual basis, and it is through requests made by various record companies that certain releases be considered eligible for the Awards.

         It is easy to shout foul, or to imagine that someone is nominated based on an outdoor appearance. But without significant insights on the eligibility issue, it is most unfair to claim that the process is unfair.

           Were singers like Hagen, Ruien and Jeff considered? They might not be from those bigger record companies, so were they included in the consideration? I’m surprised Derrick lost to Huang Yida for the nomination :/

           How can award be stolen? They can only be given. As usual Local artiste arwards will usually be given to those that has more exposure and popular locally. Every year fans will cry say unfair for their favourites but every year award still carry on.

           That’s the sad side of SG entertainment scene – only local artiste gain exposure & popularity locally then can get? No wonder they can only gain their fame locally but not really be able to make it big @ the world out there!

           It’s a pitty that some of local artiste who gaining so much popularity & doing so much better are not being given the credits & recognition. Hope that S’pore Hits Awards can review the criteria & be more convincing….

           I’m am really surprised that 陈伟联 get nomintated for 最佳本地歌手奖.

           Basically I think Huang Jing Lun is more suitable to get nomintated for that awards.

           Yup yup agree with you… personally I feel that huang king Lin deserves more to be nominated.. another thing noted is that JJ has too few nominations this year with such a great album..

    Hi Cruz, though 优秀新人奖 has many nomintees, but thankfully, I personally feel best 4 is the nominated…! Hope they will win the awards as it will be the best encouragement for the 4 group of artistes, 梁文音／《爱的诗篇》, 神木与瞳／《为你而活》, 张芸京／《破天荒》,
    徐佳莹／《徐佳莹首张创作专辑》I guess, Ah mei and Fish leong for the best female vocal..! I will vote for Ah mei cos the album is really outstanding!

      Agreed with you that 黄靖伦 should be nominated for 最佳本地歌手奖! He has done S’pore proud @ Taiwan 星光大道 season 3, being the oversea contestant clinched the 人气王, first one to release the debut album which topped the sales chart & song chart in TW many weeks! I remember his albums were sold more than 4000 copies here as well. With this much exposures & popularity gained, I’m also puzzled why he was not nominated for the best local artise….any opinion?

      Derrick’s album is already awarded in SHA08.. as his album is released on 30 july, last yr’s qualifying period.

      im puzzled why Jinglun not nominated while kelvin, album released in aug is nominated.. oh well.
