I’m done with the first term in school. Two modules and four assignments in six weeks. All within the blink of an eye. Because I grossly underestimated the difficulty of the paper due on Friday, I was in for a panic attack in the last 60 minutes- hurriedly scanning for typos, nervously editing the mini essay and plonking in relevant phrases from the textbook, and logging into the system in case the page took decades to load.

I wanted to show you a screenshot but the site doesn’t seem to be functioning now. Ya, I submitted the document online at 23:59hrs, Friday. I don’t know what would have happened if I had clicked the button a minute later. Some say the system would reject submissions, some say points would be deducted. Whatever.

Before I could recover from all the action, I found myself holed up in the production suite over the weekend to prepare for the morning show relaunch on Monday. Every time a revamp is announced, I applaud myself for the insistence I put up back then. In the second year after my return to the mornings, they wanted to rename the show. I came up with a rather convincing theory about building up a brand, blah blah blah. It was either I was good, or they merely wanted to stop me from flooding them with more bullshit. Hahah. I was allowed to keep the title 就是萬人迷.

Over the last three and a half years, I have accumulated a massive amount of programme jingles, taglines, etc. I gave my new partner, Jiahui a pat and said, “You don’t be stressed hor. Slowly do. Cannot finish still can recycle the old opening for the first few days. Don’t tell boss I said that.”

So anyway, I didn’t meet anyone this weekend. And I realised I can’t be a 宅男－ hiding alone at home and rejecting most forms of socialising. I need to get out. I need real human interaction. I need a life!
