The 81st Academy Awards takes place on 22.02.09 (Monday morning in Singapore). The Curious Case of Benjamin Button leads the pack with a whooping 13 nominations, while Slumdog Millionaire trails behind with 10. It has however picked up numerous Best Picture trophies at the Golden Globes, BAFTA and other ceremonies leading to the Oscars.

I hope I have time to watch the other movies before Monday.

Four tickets to Slumdog Millionaire had been booked. We discovered to our pleasant surprise that there was an empty seat in the same row we were in- perfect for accommodating an additional friend who decided to join us at the eleventh hour.

Essentially, we went in holding 4 + 1 tickets. We were optimistic that the six people separating us would be kind enough to shift one seat to their left, so that the five of us could sit together. However, one of them flatly refused.

“I like this seat. I want to be in the middle (of the row). I don’t want to shift.”

Woah. It’s just ONE seat. What difference would it make?! I don’t know about you, but I would definitely move my ass in such a scenario. I didn’t think it was that unreasonable a request.

Then again, the ticket was hers. She had every right not to shift.

Fine.

    HMM… well if she was nice and in a good mood she would probably have moved.

    haha but honestly if i was that lady i would pretty much have said the same thing too cuz um HAHA. i guess im not very nice. but yeah la i mean i understand why she refused to move… heh.

    She wanted to be in the centre of the centre :) but she has every right not to move. Anyway, all of you are above 16 yrs old, no problem to be separated for a while.

    I love the show.
