Hong Kong Day 1

各位鄉親,我已安全抵達香港了。三小時前入住享譽亞洲的Peninsula Hotel 泛島酒店。。。

。。。後面的Kowloon Hotel九龍酒店。
I had to do this line in Chinese for effect maximisation. :p

Directly opposite: Peninsula Hotel
I arrived in Hong Kong on Monday as the Bank of Asia issued a profit warning and saw customers flocking to their branches in a withdrawal frenzy. The shares of other banks dropped too, according to Channel News Asia. I was in too much of a hurry to listen attentively. The longer I stayed in the room, the more likely I would dial room service. And so, I was out of the hotel in ten minutes flat.
There was a slight drizzle as I headed out alone. It’s been more than three years since I last came to the Pearl of the Orient, but I could vaguely remember the route I had taken before. Before I knew it, I was heading in the direction of Harbour City. And there it was!

Louis Vuitton Flagship Store @ Canton Road
I swear it wasn’t my intention to walk there. Hahaha. I was hungry anyway, and left after taking a quick shot.
No self respecting tourist would missing eating at a 茶餐廳。It was almost like visiting Singapore without eating erm, Hainanese Chicken Rice? The problem was WHICH one to go to. I settled on a random 茶餐廳 and randomly ordered something off the menu.

香港之行花絮#1:Overly friendly uncle
Just what sort of vibes could I have emitted when all I did was to sit there and fiddle with my laptop while waiting for my flight? There’s friendliness. And there’s plain weirdness. This bespectacled uncle from another Asian country freaked me out totally by trying to chat me up! OMG.
I would be pleased in most situations to be chatted up, but not by some strange uncle! I’m not some young tender piece of meat and I’ve seen enough to handle most situations, but the body language of this weird uncle made me forget about my manners completely, “哦?你也去香港?那好。路途愉快。再見。”
I didn’t give him a chance to wish me the same. Eeewwww
香港之行花絮#2: 蔡一智 @ Hong Kong Airport
I was about to enter the washroom when he exited. Their manager told me later that we took the same flight. In case you are keen to stalk his brother, 蔡一傑 returns to Hong Kong from Singapore on Tuesday.
