A new chapter in Singapore’s sporting history. For the first time ever, we had a swimmer in an Olympics final.
Mary, Peifen and I were all so hyped up we decided to interrupt 醉心歌曲九连环 at 10.24am and cheered as the Women’s 100m Butterfly Finals went on in Beijing. Versus a professional sports commentary, we were more like shouting randomly, including “一百万!一百万!陶李!一百万!加油!”. She’s up for two more events, so we’ll be cheering over the next couple of days.
On the other hand, the US swimming team was amazing. France was leading in the 4 x 100m men’s freestyle relay, and when it seemed that it was game over for the Americans, Jason Lezak closed up the gap in the final 20m and clocked the fastest 100m freestyle split in history. It was 3:08:24 vs France’s 3:08.32. Wah biang. Michael Phelps couldn’t close his mouth for a very long time. Muahahah.
Also, Lee Chong Wei was impressive. The world number 2 badminton player from Malaysia defeated our Susilo this morning. Though Mary and I were obviously rooting for Susilo, we couldn’t help but go, “Wah seh, Lee Chong Wei’s really good.” .

Yes… Heard the 3 of you rooting for Tao Li. Although Tao Li didnt get a medal but she did a great job!!!.. With additional 4 yrs of training, she may get a medal in London Olympics in 2012!!
The swim by Jason Lezak was maginificent!! Without him, Michael Phelps is not able to achieve his goal of 8 golds.
Ya la! I was so gan chiong while watching the 4 X 100m relay match!! USA was superb leh!! won by the fingertip’s distance!! haha!!
Agreed that the USA Male swimmers esp Michael Phelps are
excellent….nonstop breaking WR & OR, like this morning 800m’s
relay match!
