“Forced to…”
2 July 2008 Wednesday | 20:56 | Play

I came home at 6pm yesterday, all ready to sleep. That’s the best way to end a frustrating day, in my opinion.

Don’s SMS at 6pm:
Dear all, dinner time!

Before I could reply, a message popped up on my Macbook.

Jan’s MSN message at 6.03pm:
Ok ok, let’s go for dinner!

Cruz:
Don’t want lah. I wanna sleep. Very tired. Don’t wanna drive. Not very hungry anyway. You all go lah.

Jan:
Haiyah, go lah go lah. Ok, I see you at your place in 30mins time. Cya!

Then she logged off without waiting for my reply.

I thought she couldn’t be serious, and that she wouldn’t be so silly as to turn up at my door despite me saying no. And she must have suspected I would ignore her even if she appeared, so she followed up with a phone call.

Jan:
Ok, I’m on the way! See you in 25 minutes! Bye!

Cruz:
No……… Hello? Hello? Hello?!!

Wah lao, she hanged up on me!

Just as I was about to return her call, another message popped up on the screen.

Don:
I go fetch you. See you in 30 mins!

And he too logged off before I could reply!

Cruz to Don and Jan:
Mad ah! Why are you all forcing me to have dinner with you all? And why are there two cars coming to my place? I don’t wanna go! I wanna nua! And I wanna watch (the repeat telecast of) Da Chang Jin (on Channel U)!

Jan:
Let me tell you Chang Jin’s story later. Cya later!

Don:
Cya later!

Bish.

Cruz:
You all are mad. Force me out for dinner and make me tour the island for more than an hour! It’s nearly 8pm and there’s no food in sight!

Muahahhahaa. The traffic at City Plaza was madness.

Arnold’s Chicken at Level 2 was fantastic. Deep fried chicken; assorted potato sidedishes in the form of fries, wedges, criss cut; buns scooped from a pot of oil; vegetables that came in a bowl of coleslaw soaked in dressing. The perfect way to clog our arteries. Woohoo!

There was a couple beside us. The girl left a gigantic piece of chicken skin on her plate. Don and I were enviously eyeing that sinful piece of delicacy when her oversized male companion put it in his mouth.

That led me to saying on air this morning, “我的择偶新条件就是:对方不能吃鸡皮。”

As we washed off the grease on our hands, I asked, “Can I go home now?”.

No, apparently.

Four Seasons Durian Cafe at Joo Chiat Place (junction of Still Road) was the next destination. Three durians for six people weren’t enough! Being sensible adults and all, we did all we could from opening up more durians, and settled for ‘cooling‘ mangosteens instead.

“Ok, can I go home now? I can’t eat any more!”

Technically, I could stuff more fried chicken (complete with skin!) and more durians down my throat, but I can’t do that for my own good. If there’s any consolation at all, I don’t have to worry about any breakouts on my face. Thanks to Bioskin.
