I bought a new bag in Bangkok last week. At the same time, I grabbed a couple of tees and berms. Because I was busy holding up tops and walking in and out of the changing room, I threw my shades into the new bag instead of hooking it in front of my chest. I thought it would be okay, since the bag only contained clothes- nothing to scratch the lenses.
Two hours later,

Don’t know how/what/when/who/where/why lah.Argh! My shades!
On closer inspection, there was no major damage- just a missing screw. Heng ah.
I brought the shades to an optical store today. The shopkeeper fixed in a new screw in a matter of minutes.
And he cheerfully waved his hand when I asked how much the charges were.
Huh? Free? How can? Paiseh leh.
A teeny weeny screw doesn’t cost much obviously. But there was the manpower factor, no?
My question is- do all optical stores do the same thing? Don’t they charge people who randomly bring in eyewear not bought from their stores? Then won’t they be like very busy for nothing?!
P/S: TECK YEW is at Blk 204 Hougang St 21 #01-127. I’m not suggesting you bring them your damaged stuff for free repairs. I had wanted to buy something to show my appreciation, but there was absolutely nothing for me to buy. I’m counting on my myopic and hyperopic readers to return the good karma by purchasing the things you need from there.

as far as i know, most shops do NOT charge for any labour and the screw.
Oh no! It your birthday’s present… Wow! so gd, Ok no problem, if i need anything i will go there. Hahaha, quite near from my house.
Yup, so far..those that I been to before to repair spect or sunglasses in term of missing screws or even those plastic plastic nose rest..they dont normally charge too…:) normally would maybe just buy saline/contact lens solution from them…
