When I don’t have to get up early, I … …

The company’s financial year ends on 31 Mar. I have to clear my annual leave by then, so I’m absent (for two days) at the start of this week. That way, I don’t miss shouting “It’s Friday!”.

By the way, I’m completly ignoring emails during this period. “Can you don’t always take leave? My journey to work is very boring you know?!… But today ok lah, cos I on leave too.”

Muahahah. Thanks huh, WS.

Getting up early is the last thing on my mind, and I’m therefore maximising my hours outside.

We were at Dragonfly for 933’s 18th Birthday Bash on Saturday. As host and Blue Team Captain, I was on stage 70% of the time. I drank enough Coke to be that energetic. From poking fun at contestants who showed me their ICs, using my mobile phone to call the lucky draw winner instead of announcing his name on stage, to bantering with Joi Chua, Daren Tan and Jeff Chang, I had a bit of fun. The fun factor would have been higher if not for the fact that we lost the Challenge to the Yellow Team.

You know how political party leaders have to take responsibility when they fare badly in polls… As chief of the losing team, I bow and say, “Paiseh Paiseh” to all our supporters. Hahaha. Thanks to Jeff for sportingly agreeing to sing a duet with Mary; to everyone who turned up in blue; and our fabulous listeners who were part of the group.

A pat for ourselves… And thunderous applause for the Yellow Team! Woohoo!

Over at Vivo City after the show, Justin mentioned he had a craving for crabs after a two week long In Camp Training. Irvin’s eyes lit up instantly when I said I had the best crab dish topped with salted eggs at JB two weeks ago. We were halfway through our sushi, maki, and unagi when we began making phone calls.

The plan was to rush home to collect our passports. Jan, the designated driver would fetch us and we would then head to JB immediately. That would have been a perfect plan… if it was executed two hours earlier.

Zhiping, my Malaysian friend, called at 8.57 pm, “What? You’re still at home? Don’t come already lah! People washing woks before you reach Tuas lah.”

And so we adjourned to Old Airport Road for butter crabs instead. I’m sure you know where that place is. My bestest friend in a state of disappointment told the cab driver, “Old Changi Airport Road”.

The final stop for the evening was my favourite cinema in Singapore- Shaw Balestier. Never once have I encountered irritating parents refusing to keep pesky kids from running up and down the passageway. And I never have failed to get tickets for any screening on any given day. I love that place.

27 Dresses is a light hearted crowd pleaser from the creator of The Devil Wears Prada. Despite a most predictable plot, the movie scores with witty dialogue and decent chemistry between Katherine Heigl, James Marsden, Malin Maria Åkerman and Edward Burns. The final wedding scene with the bridesmaids in tow is not to be missed. It had me laughing out loud at 1.45am. Ok, maybe I’m easily amused.

After hosting a roadshow at Audio House, Liang Court, where we sold 37” LCD television sets for only $999, it was dinner time with Andrew who had recently turned 30. He was taking it very well. *LOL. The dinner buffet at Holiday Inn Park View had a fairly wide selection, but the aisles can certainly be wider. I totally forgot to raise this issue with the management after downing two bowls of durian puree. It was heavenly!

We visited our favourite baby of the moment- Xiao^Qiang after dinner. The Tans will have to employ a security detail very soon if their first born doesn’t stop his cute expressions and smiling in his sleep.

As everyone else complained about Monday blues, I was left undisturbed in an 11 hour snooze marathon. If not for the desperate need to pee at 3pm, I might have stayed in bed for another hour since the first appointment of the day was at 4.30pm.

The protruding screw in my left foot has been bothering me.

There was this over zealous gentlemen who wanted to take a photo with me a few weeks ago. He very nearly stepped on my once fractured foot in his enthusiasm. In my haste to shift my foot from possible harm, the straps on my slipper pulled against the damned screw and had me yelping in pain.

I was told this afternoon that the screw could be removed if I wanted to. That was news to me, really! A minor operation with local anesthesia is all it takes for me to safely take photos from now on.

I didn’t have much time to consider as I had to be at Ang Mo Kio Ave 4 before the evening crowd appeared. This was the first time I handed more than $300 cash to a bak kwa shop.

The lucky recipients of my bak kwa expressed their appreciation verbally, but failed to reciprocate at the mahjong table later on. Those ungrateful brats. :P
