I was tempted to write a long entry to rebuke some of the comments in an earlier post that I’ve deleted.
I’ve decided against that since several readers who have left comments in a fast and furious manner do not entirely comprehend the simple plain English I’ve written previously.
Scandal, for instance, refers to “a widely publicized incident involving allegations of wrong-doing, disgrace, or moral outrage”. And in case you need the definition of “allegations“, these are “claims without proof”.
From day one, I’ve resolved to stand by whatever I say/ type on a public platform. However, if this is going to raise unnecessary ire and stir emotions in a negative manner, we’re better off doing something else more constructive. Spreading hatred and accusing me of disliking a person and altering my words to align with your misconception isn’t.
I’ve not for a single moment played the role of a judge, and neither have I implied if someone is indeed guilty or not. I’m certainly willing to apologise to the said person if I have in any manner caused any harm or hurt to him. But I’m definitely not bowing down to the people who are in a similar situation of having insufficient information to make any judgement, and yet join in the mob by spamming this blog.

What you said on air and on your blog means “a FACt”, regardless of the fact that you said ’scandal” means only ” a claim”.
So… what I say is “a fact”.
I SAY that I am actually Superman posing as Batman who has a secret fetish to become Spiderman.
I SAY that every reader of cruzteng.com has to jump on the spot ten times and shout HUAT AH before reading each entry.
I SAID that it was a question, not a statement. I stated that the “scandal” in question was a claim, not a fact. Who’s listening?

He had always wanted us to look at him as a normal person, we are just doing as he wanted, why do people like you always shine a differnt light on him? Why are there always people giving him the special privilege? Handicapped people are just like any other human beings, who needs love and do make mistakes. Tell me, does a handicapped pickpocket doesn’t make him/her a pickpocket just because of his/her physical disability? It all about moral values and personality now and not whether he’s physically challenged or not that we have to look at him in a different way. When you think about whether it’s fair to the disabled, think first..whether you are being fair to your so-called normal human beings.

i do not know where you get your definition for scandal but here is one from the Cambridge online dictionary:

its neither fair to the singer either as we still do not know the whole story. even in court, you need both sides to present their case before the final verdict. i am sorry if people think i am being åè§, but i can say i have nothing against cruz and so why should i have any pian jian against him. only having different views as cruz does not warrant me as being åè§ against him. and by the way, if someone who just want to da bao bu ping for in their opinion, an unbalanced report is deemed as the singer’s fan, so be it. i cant change the way others perceive. sorry for intruding and misusing this platform for cruz’s listeners, fans and readers.

aiyah why are all the fans so work out? This thing is not announced only in cruze site right? newspaper has been talking abt it for days ok & it was already exposed not by cruze but by other site first. don’t blame it only on cruz. u shd blame the one who started telling the press first! but who is really the victim? i guess all the 3 involved are. Cruz is probably busy leading his team of merry men and women spreading some Singaporean JOY to turkey so I’ll just reply to you:
ELF, just drop it la. he used “allegations” and even ended the statement wtih a question mark. As far as national dailies are concerned, that is as far from being a factual statement as can be. btw, you debater eh?
i did not approve of him taking down the post and the picture but I’m sure cruz has done for the safety of his blog and also because obviously some people cannot differentiate cruzteng.com and yes93.3. Cruz views represents his own views and definitely do not represent the radio station he works in. did he use his air time to trumpet his cause? NO. controversy is what keeps the entertainment business boiling. star and starlet gossip is discussed all the time on radio and by every DJ. i see no wrong that this “news” was brought up during his segment. IF, i say IF this “controversy” is cleared, i’m sure this “good” news will probably be brought up on the radio as well.
this is Cruz’s blog. how would you feel that if someone came to your home and tell you how ugly you have painted your house and so in protest bring their dog to come crap at yr front door? this is cruz’s house, you wanna come? respect the owner.

hmmm… i didn’t get to read it. too bad for me lah… and don’t care about them lah! bloggers always have fans and flamers, just like we have our own opinions and sometimes write without thinking twice just because it’s our own blog, only to realise later that somehow the “little thing” you wrote that you think is just a little little insight, can create a big hoohaa. and eventually, we all get used to it, get on with life, and continue to blog. haha~

i am not a debater, but since our (Cruz and i) understanding of the word ’scandal’ differs, i am just putting forth my understanding of the word (as defined by the Cambridge dictionary) to Cruz that the title of his entry (already deleted by him) might be misconstrued by readers, who comprise not only his friends but also his listeners, including me. i would not have responded if he had not put up his definition of the word, which i found out now is from wikipedia - a platform where anybody can add/edit/delete contents.
You may argue that this is his private blog meant for friends or his fans to comment. If this is the case, he should have made this blog a private blog and only registered users/members can leave a comment. Since it’s public, i am sure he welcomes feedback (good or bad) from the public since he is a well known celebrity. i believe the tone of my comment was non-confrontative, neither am i trying to spam his blog.
As he had deleted the whole thread, including his entry and all comments, i respect his decision and shall not continue to comment on his entry. There’s no need for me to argue with any other reader of his blog.

i am actually neutral, not a supporter of that singer. If the singer is wrong, and if the whole thing is exposed, i feel he really deserve. So far, newspapers have chosen not to expose it. But here, the blogger in this site choose to expose when the media is keeping quiet. Well, it just give me a bad impression of this blogger as he is quite cruel. I understand he is trying to answer some questions but did he realise the damages he might cause? I need to stress again. The blogger has the right to expose anything but i feel he is cruel as he have already ruined the singer’s future.

I mean there are other singers/ celebs out there who have endured even more malicious scandal than this and they and their career survived!! Are we over reacting? i am also neutral here. i don’t like chen weilian, nor do i dislike him. however, i got to know of the news from forums instead of this blog here. in fact the blog posted the news LATER than the forums. the forums were the ones that leaked out this piece of news, during the weekends, so why isn’t anyone scolding them?
i think you guys are really making a big hoo-ha here for no reason at all.
and by saying that cruz has ruined the singer’s future is really just too much.
i can only say now that weilian ruined his own future by allowing such a thing to happen.
he is in control of his own future, and not anyone else.

when the singer is participating in the competition, fans and audience hurled words and criticisms at him, people ask how can a blind person be allow to join this competition, how can a blind person be a superstar, how can a blind person be the champion. ask yourselves then, did you all treat him as a normal person? if not, you are not fit to say things like ‘any handicapped person who wish to do things of normal people will be treated as normal people.’ when he wished to join the competition with normal people, was he being treated as a normal people then???
nobody is blaming cruz for publishing this entry too. if he have the right to publish that, then readers have the right to post comments too. if the comments do not see eye to eye to his views and thus is deemed as misunderstanding him, i feel sorry. nobody said the singer is right, if the singer involved is jj, adu, yida or jy, do you all think any of them will be lashed upon on in this manner?

i get a sense tat some fans are defensive which is normal and acceptable but some seem to be highly sensoitive…
mel, i do think e effect of whether it is jj, adu, yida or jy who is involved, e outcome wld be e same… ppl are curious and kpo (including me) by nature and guess it is true tat weilian gets more attention by his visual disability but this matter uis not blown out of proportion simply cos he is someone with visual disability… at least tat is wat i feel cos i wld be equally kpo be it jj, adu, yida or jy…
anyway, hate to say this but media is too complicated… who knows, someone trying to make a big hoohaa to get more publicity like how slyvester getting all e limelights during Singapore idol? its too complicated for us to understand i guess…

i didnt see this post at all. all i can say is i think weilian fans are overreacting. There have been a few cases showing weilian fans overreacting. for example, GCMA. quite ridiculous. whether or not weilian did the thing, whatever cruz wrote WILL never ruin weilian’s reputation, u all make it sound like alot of pple actually came to read his blog instead of newspapers and media. what is wrong now? cant a blogger present his own views on his own blog? Fact is, if he wasn’t treated as a normal person, was he able to join the competition? He eventually did participated and became the champ. Ask yourself then did his own fans or people who supported him treated him like a normal person too? They are always praising him “很有勇气†when I don’t see what is so difficult/courageous of him to perform on stage as compared to other contestants? Moreover, performing was his daily job then. Now, if the singer involved is jj, adu, yida or jy, do you still think they wouldn’t get a harsh-er treatment?

it’s a pity. a simple blog post actually results in such a big hooha.
this is a very good blog. cruz put his heart and soul in this blog.
and people are flooding this blog with some ridiculous comments. esp fans of that artiste concerned. this is the media industry. there is always bound to be rumours or gossips, be it true or not. if that artiste can’t take all those stuff, i’ll say that’s too bad.
but it seems that the artiste can take it, but it’s his fans that gives people the impression that he is a weakling in this field.
i mean, that artiste already proved to cruz that ‘it isn’t wise to spend time arguing’. so why is there a debate here? come on, there isn’t a best debater award here.
my stand is clear. why care if that artiste is smsing you, me or the cat just opposite the road? so long as he is able to produce good music, it is good enough. i don’t give a damn on his rumours or personal life, and most importantly in this case, his disability.
he is a talent. he produces good music. he has a wonderful set of vocals. and i strongly believe it is the reactions of his fans that causes me to shake my head. if this continues, i’m afraid his career might be affected.
and to cruz. your blog rocks. keep it up. keep your interesting posts coming, esp those photoshop posts. keep blogging.

i really agree that probably, i say probably, the fans are making it worse. sometimes in the media industry or even elsewhere, the more you try to defend yourself or even attempt to HELP others defend themselves, the worse things will become. why? based on one simple logic. the more you say, the more ‘text’ people can misinterpret. the more you say, the more people will be reminded of the issue. the more you say, the more the saga or issue will drag on. the more you say, the worse it becomes. so why say?
seriously, think about it. if you want the best for your idol, stop trying to defend him if not it’ll drag on and on. i believe we all just want this to be over and forgotten right? we still want him to sing right? have faith in him that he’ll emerge from this well n fine. don’t let what happened in gcma to happen here. it’s just making things worse.
