Fly BD Bash + Mambo Jambo
3 May 2007 Thursday | Play

Fly Entertainment‘s 8th birthday party was held at Zouk last evening. Because I was fashionably late, I missed dropping my card for the lucky dip and didn’t have a chance to win that $2,500 laptop. Bleah.

Fly gave out a couple of awards with very long names. The “No-You, No-PCK, No-Rosie, No-Irene Ang, No-Fly” Award was presented to Andrea Teo. She was the one who talent spotted Irene Ang, who was cast as Mrs PCK, and later formed her own talent agency. Other award recipients included local filmmaker Royston Tan and Loretta Chen, who had recently completed 251- the play about Annabel Chong.

As the cake was cut, and the curtains drawn at 10.30pm, my heartbeat rose significantly.

MAMBO JAMBO!

O-M-G.

(It’s uppercase OMG, not lowercase omg ok?)

I’ve been pre-announcing my return to Mambo via my MSN nick the last couple of days. Some were incredulous because I was (about to turn) 28, and no longer 18. Others thought it was a bad idea cos I had to be on air at 7am the next day. Some evil ones were worried I might trip and fall, due to my clumsiness and well, old age.

People, it’s MAMBO JAMBO!

I’ve been talking and thinking but not venturing into Mambo ever since I left poly. By the time they shaved my head and turned me into a recruit, I was banished to the Boat Quay and Md Sultan areas because there was absolutely no chance of me sneaking into Zouk on Wednesdays. Later on, mahjong took precedence and Mambo became a historical term to me.

Until last night.

OMG. Mambo Jambo.

You have no idea (or do you? haha!) how much Mambo Jambo means to me. Zouk was the first real club I went to, and we had plenty of memories from all those Wednesday nights we spent there. It was only natural that Derick, Kian Tong and Serene were there to mark my return to Mambo Jambo.

The music last night wasn’t fantastic, but those nostalgic moments were overwhelming.

By the way, those weaklings actually had the cheek to call it a night at 1.30am. Hello! The party just started!

I reminded them how we used to (reluctantly) return home at 3am, and report punctually for 8am classes. They retorted that it was about a decade ago lor.

Sigh.

Although the Lao Beng in me took longer than usual to get ready for work this morning, I’m probably going again next Wednesday. And the following week too, perhaps.

Mayday
2 May 2007 Wednesday | -

Glad that it was my turn to take a break from work.

Nothing extraordinary happened on this public holiday, except that I had a wonderful dream. My Mazda 3 was traded in for a spanking new SL 500.

Maybe it’s a sign that I will win something (big!) from Singapore Pools this week. The last I checked, a SL 500 goes for only $458,888. A Group 1 win on Thursday can pay for that. Muahaha.

And I fell down again in the bathroom. OUCH!

At the rate this is going, I need A LOT of calcium before osteoporosis sets in. :X
