6/6 soon! … Or 6/9. Or 6/12…
5 January 2007 Friday | Lasik

Best SMS from HS:

Tee Gong, Dua Pek Gong and Tu Di Gong, please por bee our vainpot ah beng Cruz ping ping an an for lasik later, and come back with chio eyes :P

The SMS is much appreciated. Though I object to the adjectives she used.

HS:
How how?

Cruz:
What? Today is the PRE consultation lah.

HS:
Chey! Waste my power leh.

What? My previous post was titled Pre LASIK Consultation right?

Anyway, thanks! Haha.

I went through a series of tests this morning. Everything was normal. Except…

Cruz:
Oh! They said my left eye is 250; right eye 300.
And erm, I’ve been wearing 325 lenses since forever.

A:
Well done.

Moral of the story: If you buy lenses off the shelf like I do, please do regular checks.

Later, eyedrops was used to dilate my pupils. I was happily MSN-ing away on my phone when I suddenly realised I couldn’t see the screen unless it was held a metre away! Because the other patients had eyedrops repeatedly applied, I was quite amazed a single drop in each eye did the job for me. And while that dilated state could haunt patients for up to a day, I was ok by the time I stepped out of the centre. I could have drove myself to and fro instead of spending $31.40 on taxis…

After a longer than expected four hour wait, I got the results.

Ladies and gentlemen, I will be going for my LASIK operation ten days later! And because mine is such a simple and easy case, I’ve been given the option of doing both eyes on the same day. Great!

I began wearing glasses in Primary 3/4, and switched to contact lenses when I was Secondary 3. I took like an hour to push those lenses in on the first attempt! Haha. Shortly, there were monthly disposables and then dailies. While there were two or three red eye incidents, the condition of my eyes is generally ok. No major infections etc. Heng ah.

I’m so happy to go for LASIK because there is a prevalent risk in wearing contact lenses and I don’t like wearing glasses at all. I did contemplate getting a nose job to *cough* look better and to prevent glasses from sliding down my bridge. But Christopher Lee said my nose has “福相” and I shouldn’t reshape it. Oh ok. Anyway, LASIK is cheaper than a nose job lah.

As for the costs, a consultant can settle your problem at less than $3,000 while a senior consultant usually charges less than $4,000 at a public hospital.

Oh yes, anyone using Focus Dailies +3.25? No need auction lah. I have two or three boxes to give away. Mail me if you need those ok?

Edit: Ok, Both boxes given away! =D

Pre LASIK Consultation
4 January 2007 Thursday | Lasik

The two key phrases that keep appearing in my blog would be

1. HUAT AH

&

2. POR BEE.

If you don’t mind, I would like all of you to shout POR BEE with me. Haha.

As you might have noticed from the NY pictures, I was wearing specs the last week in preparation for tomorrow’s consultation where I’ll have a comprehensive eye examination, assessment of my refractive error, a computerised mapping of the shape of my cornea and a personal consultation with a Refractive Surgeon. This meticulous process is crucial in determining my suitability and safety for LASIK.*

I was more than pleased to be assigned a female surgeon. Somehow, I feel ladies are more, erm, delicate, careful and less chor-lor than males. Haha.

And oh, thanks to everyone who gave me loads of advice after I mentioned that I would wanna do lasik. I chose SNEC eventually cos I presumed my friend has done all the research. And in case of any *choy* unexpected occurrences, he would have all the emergency numbers at his fingertips.

This just means that everyone else who wanna do lasik should not take this entry as a testimonial ok. I’m going to SNEC just because I’m lazy to do my own research.

For now… Por Bee I’ll pass the tests tomorrow…

Parties’ over~!
2 January 2007 Tuesday | Play

Ok, the parties are over… Back to reality tomorrow!

So fast ah? :(

While I had my Christmas itinerary planned way in advance, I didn’t initiate any NYE/NYD parties cos bad (REAL BAD) memories from last NYE/NYD are still intact.

But Cruz being Cruz, will never impose a curfew on himself unless both lower limbs weren’t functioning- One leg gone, still can hop out on the other leg right?

Somehow, plans were made and I was out painting the town, and someone’s house in this instance, red for four consecutive nights.

NYD Highlights:

#1- No lavish food

The idea of lavish meals over the NY period has been introduced in the previous post.

Last evening, as I was about to leave for Arthover’s place where he was hosting a BBQ party for his uni mates…

Cruz:
You’ve got food for me right?

Art:
No.

Cruz:
What?!!

Art:
Haha. Got lah… There’s bee hoon, if you don’t mind having that on the first day of the new year.

Conclusion: The lavish food idea is a complete flop.

#2- Special New Year SMS

“Happy New Year! Just to let you know I will be going to (*censored*) in the new year. I’m so glad to have met you, and I hope the next person I meet will be just as great. Hope we’ll be happy in whatever we do in 2007.”

I was tempted to tell her that she won’t meet anyone as great as me, for I am the one and only Cruz Teng.

Hahaha. Phui…

And no, it’s NOT what you think. The sms didn’t come from an ex girlfriend lah.

#3- Passing my luck

By the way, I got a Zap Sa Yeo on Saturday night again.

Cruz:
OMG. So gan jiong!

Jan:
So many times liao still gan jiong ah?

Cruz:
Ya. Heart beat so fast. Next time when we’re older, cannot try this liao. Wait I heart attack.

A number of friends are in Genting as I’m blogging. I gave JX a string of HUAT AHs before he left.

Sadly I think my chant has got some geographical limitations

Cruz:
HUAT AH!

JX:
Haha ….bo huat ley

going to have no money to eat

Cruz:

JX:

Cruz:

JX:

Cruz:

JX:

Cruz:

JX:

Cruz:

Happy New Year!
1 January 2007 Monday | Play

Woohoo!

The first post of the year~!

Firstly, HAPPY 2007!

If 2006 was kind to you, I hope 2007 will be just as great. Shout HUAT AH seven times to ensure the good luck stays with ya.

If you were really suay last year, don’t worry. Things will only get better this year. All you have to do is to shout HUAT AH two thousand and seven times. And I mean SHOUT. Two thousand and seven times daily. Haha.

Happy New Year folks!

I casually mentioned that we should do a lavish dinner before the party at Arthover’s place on New Year’s Eve- not that the typical daily meals were very un-lavish.

To my horror, I was brought to Ang Mo Kio Central at 5pm that evening.

Ang Mo Kio Central.

Before the Ang Mo Kioians of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 to Avenue 10 rise in protest, I must state that I have nothing against Ang Mo Kio Central hor. I used to take Bus No 25 home from the interchange when I was studying in Anderson Secondary School. I heart AMK Central.

But. AMK Central where got lavish dinner….

The NEL group, together with Art’s friends from JC (Oh! a senior from Anderson!), played a couple of hilarious games while the Taipei countdown party rocked on in the background.

Highlights included this memory game which involved a lot of actions and drinking- too complicated to describe here-, and The Unwanted Gifts Exchange. The rationale was that something you didn’t fancy might be a gem in others’ eyes. We consolidated the recycled gifts from Christmas, and well, continued to spread the festive cheer.

Once again, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
