RIP.
Rest in peace, is all I can say.
I was slightly shocked at the chain of events, and how quickly everything happened. Being the almost jaded radio jock, I almost brushed off news of her ICU admittance as either severe misrepresentation by overzealous journalists or delibrate manhandling of the media by sly management companies. You know how some people are reported to have lost a limb when they actually just chipped their fingernail or something?
Being the almost jaded radio jock, I knew the sombre tone I had to adopt when we went on air this morning with the not-so-new news about her passing on.
And being the almost jaded radio jock with lots of connections, I called a long time friend who’s currently active in the Taiwan media scene to do a live update for my morning listeners.
I totally regretted making that call.
Initially, I was shocked. And yes, a slight tinge of sadness. But we were basically strangers and the almost jaded radio jock tried to remind himself that people die everyday everywhere in more bizarre situations. But I was truly overwhelmed as I heard how they transported her back to Taipei from Taichung. And how her brother had to travel to the accident site for the 招魂 rituals.
在悲剧发生之后,
我们只能祝福逝世的人到另一个世界能更快乐
活着的人也只好无助地说世事难料、无奈地说要珍惜身边的人事物。
Sigh.
