Wad’s with the traffic?
9 November 2006 Thursday | 15:23 | The speed demon

As I stepped in this morning, the screeens were madly flashing with this message:

“Massive jam on AYE, towards Tuas. Jam till xxx“.

The xxx referred to the different exits along the expressway. It got farther and farther from the accident site… Wah laos. Good chance for me to learn the different exits of AYE hor?

More accident reports (from other areas) came in. I was thinking, “Eh? How come this morning so many accidents?” I repeated this aloud on air and asked everyone to drive carefully.

Not long after,

Jan’s SMS: I knocked down a cyclist! He ok, now go hospital. Feel so bad and nervous.

Cruz’s SMS:OMG!!! WHAT HAPP? OMG!

I related this to Mary,

Mary: Huh? Ok? Ok is go home, not go hospital.

Hahaha. Sorry, but… Ya, it sounded so funny at that point. :x

I called Jan right after my shift. She was exiting the expressway when she knocked into a bike on her right.

She was badly shaken. First by the accident, and subsequently, by the series of curious (and freaky) coincidences.

a. Jan works in the automobile industry. The cyclist works in a sister company under the same group!

b. The medic who zoomed to the scene in an ambulance was her primary school mate whom she hadn’t seen in years!

c. Her colleague gave her the number to a towing company. The final four digits was the same as the motorbike’s license plate number!

Wah laos!

I freaked out too!

Well… Not freaked out enough to stop me from rushing to Singapore Pools. *ahem* To place bets for her, cos the MotorShow starts today lah.

On the way back home, I was thinking about the incident and the many accident reports we received this morning when this idiot driving a lock cock boh sey silver Mercs with a P plate almost crashed into my lane without checking his blindspot.

I later saw him (I’m guessing it’s a male lah) swerving through the three lanes at about ___ km/h (I can’t say how fast he was going… Cos I was in front of him. It would be like telling you guys and the TP how fast I was going…)

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t have given way. I would have purposely hogged the first lane if he was directly behind, or stepped on the accelerators if he tried to overtake me…

But I remembered this morning’s events, and that my life was more important than his…

So the jackass swiftly went past me. Only to stop at the red lights while I cruised in behind at a steady 60km/h.
