Tip-offs
15 May 2006 Monday | 17:35 | Away, Global Chinese Music Awards 全球華語歌曲排行榜

Last evening, I received a catalogue with a note saying,“You are cordially invited to discover the Spring/ Summer 06 collection…”

Someone must have told the people at Louis Vuitton about the bonus I’ll be getting next month…

On a more sombre note, my IM nick is “丁志勇+[珍珠台风] 星期三同时登陆广州…”

I’ve been informed that Typhoon Chanchu, which has wracked havoc in The Philippines, is now heading north, and expected to hit Guangzhou head on two days from now.

A subsequent email had the following pointers:

-expected to pack maximum sustained winds of 222 kph (138 mph).
-track through southeastern China May 17-18.
-flash floods and landslides are possible in a number of provinces.
-significant rains, winds, and damage are expected near Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou

Really. What’s with me and all these winds and waters?!

Parts of Kuala Lumpur were flooded when I attended the Global Chart ceremony in 2005. And when I hosted the ceremony in Taiwan the year before, a typhoon so nearly hit us.

I sure hope this Chanchu monster loses momentum on its way to Guangzhou and turns into a breeze. Not just for me, but for everyone along the coastal areas.

As much as that sounds like an insult, I think I have to agree. Hahaha.
