745am. Sunday. RainDay

The rain!

Instead of lingering in dreamland this lovely Sunday morning, I sabo-ed myself to come to work while 90% of the population is still sleeping, and duno-how-many percent is now involved in Exercise NorthStar V.

My very gan jiong colleagues from the Control Room and News Room kept calling me while I was driving to work. Alamak. Exercise so early start ah? Got people on the MRT boh?

Five minutes after I reached the studio, I had to read a pre Exercise announcement, followed by an actual announcement 15 minutes later. I wonder how many people heard the pre announcement and rushed out, in order not to be involved in the Exercise, or how many purposely stayed on, just to catch a bit of action.

As much as the relevant agencies want to minimise disruptions, I suppose an Exercise carried out at peak hours will drive home the message more acutely. I assume the said agencies are all ready if Osama and his friends strike, but do civilians like us know how to react? There’s going to be major chaos if people don’t know where the exits are, don’t listen to instructions, or simply monkey see monkey do.

I read somewhere, that survivors of aircraft emergencies are those who paid attention to safety videos and noted where the exits were. Cos when you’re thrown into an unfamiliar situation, you are taken aback by everything that’s going around ya. By the time you recollect your calm and realise EXIT means Way Out or Get your arse out this way or you die, it might be a little too late.

Ninety minutes into my shift, the skies are still grey…

I’m sitting around doing nothing, while I watch the system air my various announcements at intervals. I can’t leave this room in case some urgent updates come in, and I can’t go home cos there’s Long Hu Bang later.

What did I get myself into? Haha. Not that I’m really complaining lah

I was just being a galiant knight when I heard Weibin was the one arrowed to man the studio this morning. Since she’s heavily pregnant at the moment, I thought I should volunteer instead. I HATE to work on Sunday mornings. But I thought it’d be easier for me than her to come…

英雄救美~~好心有好报? :P
