The most expensive Xmas present EVER.

I’ve just got myself the biggest gift ever.

As you know, I have been doing research since centuries ago. And people around me have been providing invaluable advice. Including testimonials from present car owners, feedback from friends who heard it from their friends. Right down to a debate between a new car and a used one.

My initial choice was a Mazda 3. Then I flirted with the idea of a Honda Civic. And after a near mishap where I mounted a kerb with Connie’s Rav 4, I thought a SUV might be better.

I don’t want to go through the thinking process here, cos that’s rather messy. And it’s not important too. Cos I decided to return to my original option.

Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve just landed myself in debt (big time) by signing on all those documents at the Mazda showroom. To all my friends: Each of you will get a stick of Mentos this X’mas. I’m sure you guys understand. =/

From now on, I promise to drag my ass out of bed for ALL engagements and voiceovers. Clients, record companies, whoever… Please engage me to host your events. And no discount hor, I got a mouth to feed and a petrol tank to fill. Thanks in advance.

This morning, Steven (Senior Programme Director, Gold 90FM) called the Marketing Head at Mazda when he learnt I was heading over for a test drive. Just before leaving the office, I met my Sales colleague who services Mazda. She too gave them a call.

And the Marketing Head was like “Why you all call me so many times? He so big shot meh?

*Blush.

Huiyi and Kaishen went to the showroom with me at 1pm. I repeatedly reminded Huiyi “Eh, you must slow me down leh. Else, I will just sign and go one.”

They fielded more questions than me…
They asked for more freebies than me…
They provided an insightful analysis…
They risked infuriating the Sales Rep…

I definitely owe them a treat for utilizing more than two hours of their precious time.

I don’t think I want to get the Mazda Sales Rep into trouble by listing all the extras she gave me.. Let’s just say the three of us left Mazda with smiling faces.

FAQs:

Q: What pattern is your Mazda 3?
A: Luxury Edition. Full specs at their site.

Q: What colour is it? Don’t tell me it’s yellow!
A: I would love to get yellow. Unfortunately, yellow is not available anymore. I chose black with beige leather seats.

Q: Going to zhng it?
A: No leh. Don’t wanna waste my time and money. Which is why I didn’t go for Civic. I didn’t ask for the bodykit and all, cos they couldn’t (or wouldn’t?) give it to me for free. And it doesn’t make sense for me to upgrade to the Sports edition from Luxury. That meant paying an additional $5k for a few items. But it would make sense if you wanna upgrade from the Basic model.

Q: Bidded for a special car plate number?
A: I wanted to…Perhaps 3933 (our station vehicle) or 6933 (Dasmond’s). or 933X (my mobile number). But don’t waste money lah. Btw, I was targetting the SGC series: cos SG Cruz mah… Have to settle for SG Beng instead. Hmmm.

Q: When’s the car collection date?
A: Last week of Dec.

Q: Who’s gonna be the first passenger?
A: That’s a very tough question. I think we shall do a bidding here to cover my costs. Interested parties, please mail me your bids.

Now, if you would excuse me, I’m gonna wash up and support Mr Chua En Lai tonight.
