流行教主?

流行教主?

我要做新一代流行教主。。。

Erm, that’s what 8频道新闻主播 徐赟玲would have me believe. Haha.

She’s presently working on the fashion segments in the News. Straight after I was asked to comment on the outfits of artistes attending the Singapore Hit Awards, I’ve been asked to go shopping with her this Saturday morning as part of her Prom Night edition. I’ve been tasked to suggest to the guys, what to wear for the big night.

My bosses are of course all too happy to have me on TV. Eh, a lot of people watch the News ok. But I think I’m seriously under-qualified. Haha.

I’m not a shopping addict, but I don’t hate shopping like most guys do. I read somewhere that blood pressures rise when guys go shopping. Most of the time it’s because of the ridiculously long waits their girlfriends subject them to. My pressure goes up only when I bring something to the counter without checking the price tag.

And oh, I have a very bad habit. I buy and buy and buy… but end up wearing the same few pieces. I’m a very lazy person; I don’t like to iron my clothes. And so, I end up wearing the same few pieces to work.

Top on my chart is this very crumpled white long sleeve shirt. It’s meant to be very crumpled. The sleeves can be left down- perfect for more dressy occasions or if it’s cold. Or pulled up haphazardly when the sleeves get in my way while I’m on air.

But cos I’m that lazy, and throw everything into the washing machine without a second glance, that shirt got worn out rather quickly. From a crisp white piece, it has turned into a semi translucent cheap looking shirt :(

Another regularly worn item is this black polo tee. It’s made of dunno what fabric lah. It’s so comfortable! More importantly, the cutting makes me, erm, looks less round. Good for normal days. So good I have three pieces. Haha.

I’ve learnt that fashion, or the lack of it, is very very subjective.

I wore this sibei nice shirt for a show a couple of months ago. I saw a guy wearing it in a boutique in Shanghai and got him to let me try it on. As in try on a separate piece, not the one he was wearing lah. Andrew agreed it was cool and he would have bought it if not for the fact that I tried it first. To my astonishment, an old bitch said that shirt was ugly. WTF?! Who asked for her comments?

And there was this shirt which I bought out of desperation. I had to wear a long sleeve for some function which I was informed at the eleventh hour. I got this boring blue shirt with stripes and I absolutely hated it. I was so amazed when someone commented the shirt looked lovely. Huh?

Wish me luck in picking out something good. I just hope I don’t turn into Prom King wannabes into walking fashion disasters.
