Singapore Hit Awards 2005… over…

The biggest music event of the year, Singapore Hit Awards was finally staged on Fri evening. Months of preparation, and wow! It’s finally over.

Rehearsals took up most of our Thursday and Friday. Besides walking to and fro on stage, the four hosts were busy preparing cue cards and improvising our scripted lines. But hor, 60% of what I actually said on stage weren’t scripted. Apologies to the scriptwriter, but erm, when I couldn’t remember the lines, I just had to come up with something. Hee.

I’ll leave the THANK YOU speech to my boss… In the meantime, I will like to thank:

a. the ladies from MediaCorp Wardrobe. Though they made me squeeze into ultra tight Tees and had me holding on to the blazers permanently on stage, I think the two outfits were pretty good!

b. the make up artistes from MediaCorp Studios and the stylists from REDS Hairdressing for the constant touch-ups I required.

c. A, X and X who specially bought tix to the show cos I was hosting for the first time. Woohoo!

d. And of course to my boss for putting me up there, and the team at 933 for doing everything possible to make this gig an accident-free one for me :P

Although I’ve hosted award ceremonies overseas in ‘03 and ‘04, I was doing it for the first time in Singapore this year. I felt some heat, naturally. Just before the grand opening, I felt butterflies in my stomach while standing on the flight of stairs leading to the huge stage. But as I walked out (without tripping on the other flight of stairs on stage- heng ah), and heard Liyi, Mary and Chongqing delivering their lines perfectly, I was more at ease. Thought the opening was pretty smooth, and that gave all of us confidence to move on.

As my second, third and fourth links went on without trouble, I was much much more comfortable. So much so that I seated myself beside Junyang in the first row and chit-chatted a little.
