My mum just reminded that it’s my Lunar Birthday today!

27th Day of the 7th Lunar Month.

There used to be a lot of celebrations going on - for 7th month , not my lunar birthday lah.

Almost everyone living at Chin Swee Road then would turn up for the big scale wayang downstairs. There was even a giant projector screening movies. We would just walk out of the door, perch ourselves along the corridor and watch. And I think there were stalls selling food and so on, not as grand as a pasar malam, but still something to keep the kids happy.

Think so lah. That happened before I was six.

Forward to 2005: No wayang, no mee sua.

I’m going to work.
