Supper Kakis

You know how tourists gush over Newton Circus and think it’s a wonderful place to sample all the food our little island has to offer?

The next time you go there, look out for this stall selling fruit juices. It faces the car park and it’s beside a Fish Porridge/Noodles Stall. If you face the car park (ie your butt faces the row of stalls), the abovementioned stall would be nearer to the extreme left.

You’ll probably see this auntie putting forth her widest smile and ask if you would like a cup of juice. If you see this auntie, REJECT HER!

Wah biangz. I ordered a cup of mango juice for $2.50…

What I got was a drink that LOOKED like mango juice but was actually a yellow gooey TASTELESS solution.

I almost wanted to burst into a fury and accuse the auntie of cheating me, and make her (and perhaps myself!) malu by creating a scene in front of her stall. The auntie would have to thank her lucky stars that 2 babes were with me.

I haven’t had supper with her for years! Sharon (Vu, ex DJ @ Class95), Carrie and I made great supper kakis back in 2002. Our studios were the only three located on Level 6 and we were beginning to carve out a career in Radio back then. And we were the only ones to be still hanging around at 2am. So….

Things you don’t know about Carrie Chong:
She eats and sings at the same time.
She loves chicken bones.

She begins her new shift this week, and she (like me) sure is estatic about the fact that she no longer has to get out of bed at 4.30am. Welcome to the No-Alarm-Clocks Club!

Things you don’t know about Grace Chua:
She’s my neighbour (as in we stay in the same estate)
She’s dying to take up Cantonese. Any teachers available?
