Interviews

Slogged like a slave before leaving the office at 3+… Finally!

Toro came in at 11pm for an one hour interview. It’s been ages! I think the last time we met was at Energy’s 2nd Album promo- the one where he jumped off the stage and puked his guts out…

Toro proved to be a very professional artiste- as in he answered my questions, AND managed to add in whatever he wanted to say, irregardless of whether the bit of information was related to the question or not.

It’s not easy actually, being an interviewer or interviewee.

Some interviewees talk a lot and don’t answer your questions.

问题: 和xx在这部戏合作,有什么感觉?
答案: 我们这部戏是在xx(地方)拍摄。。整个拍摄过程非常开心。。blah blah。。。

Some talk a lot. And I mean a lot!

问题: 这张专辑顺利发行,你开心吗?
答案:对。。。。。 (5 minutes later)是,我很开心。

Some think they’re Faye Wong, and don’t like to talk…

问题: 这张专辑顺利发行,你开心吗?
答案: 开心
问题: 最满意那一首歌曲?
答案: 第五首
问题: 为什么?
答案: 因为好听啊!

If you’re not Faye Wong, you better wake up your idea and donch give monosyllabic answers with an equally monotonous voice. The next person who does it will be shamed on this blog. =P Incidentally, Faye Wong did not give me the shoulder at all. I talked to her twice and she was soOoo friendly I suspected it was her twin. Well, I had the sense not to do stupid and potentially fatal stuff like inquiring about her BGR problems….

Anyway, the chat with Toro was fun. He was polite and maintained eye contact.

Not like Miss C who’s a wannabe of someone else, replied while watching the TV in the studio. (I heard this story, I didn’t witness it)

There was this female singer who’s rumoured to be a lesbian… She kept her eyes on Liyi throughout the interview and refused to glance at me. Okie, I’m not Brad Pitt, let’s give her the benefit of the doubt with regards to her sexuality.

Let’s not forget Mr X (i really forgot who that rude person was..) who refused to take off his shades during the interview. In the end, I put on my shades too. =D

Oh, another point for Toro who wasn’t late!

When people ask me about the most “memorable” interviews I did, I never fail to mention the group which was late for FORTY FIVE MINUTES! TWICE! Five, or ten minutes late is fine…but FORTY FIVE MINUTES? And TWICE?! I never found out whether it’s because of their pong-chek tyre, or just pure bad luck. Their local minders didn’t bother to come up with a lame excuse like, “Our vehicle was hijacked by Osama!” or “There was an accident on the PIE, and thus we made a detour to buy toto..” Considering Singapore isn’t very big, FORTY FIVE MINUTES late with or without a valid excuse is very very sala. Call me revengeful or petty, but someone who doesn’t show respect hardly deserves any.

Back to the art of interviews, I was very impressed with Danny, and the way he did his interviews. I duno what he fed his guests- how did they warm up to him like long lost pals? I may be a long way from there, but I’m glad the stuff I do now isn’t purely Q&A.

Right, I’m not gonna think about work for the time being.. cos it’s SATURDAY!

Guys, take care, be good.

…. …. I’ve gotta find my passport now.. *where did I hide it?!!*
