Star Wars Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith

I’m a STAR WARS fan!

For the next one month, I’m going to pull all strings available to make sure I get myself a ticket (preferably at no cost) to the gala premiere of STAR WARS EP III, just like I did for EP II.

You won’t believe the exhilaration in the theatre. People came dressed up as Jedi Knights, complete with light sabres.. While a few guys could carry it off, most belonged to the “Dream on, Dude!” category. There was also a Queen Amidala, who looked like a close relative of a Japanese Geisha. The thunderous applause began when the LucasFilm logo was flashed across the screen. As the first beat of the SW Theme began, the audience was madly clapping and cheering.

Ryan and I were firstly bewildered by their generous action of paying a couple of hundred for a tix, and then dumbfounded by this enthusiasm.

Fast forward to 2005, SW Fans are still some of the most devoted ones around.. They are queuing five weeks ahead of the gala in America…

We all know the SW story.

Young handsome guy is too ambitious for his own good, gets lured to the dark side, and transforms into an ugly chap who wears an ultra cool black armour to cover his hideous looks. (Actually, he needs to be in that gear in order to survive) Years later, his twin children who work for the good guys get to challenge him.

The above mentioned children, Luke and Leia were played by Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. Star Wars is probably the start and the end of their stardom cos they were too associated with the series.

But of course, Star Wars isn’t only about good vs evil. It’s about love, comradeship and faith. It’s also about dreams.

Anakin Skywalker dreamt of becoming someone brave and capable enough to protect himself and his loved ones.

The Emperor dreamt of conquering the universe.

The Jedis and Rebels dreamt of overthrowing the Evil Empire.

Some dreams were short-lived and some were longer.

Everyone had a dream and set about realising it.

In real life, this film reached new heights in various aspects. Dreams became reality when the legendary Mr George Lucas overcame obstacle after obstacle and acheived remarkable progress, whether in story telling or the technical aspects of film making.

Star Wars amazed the 1st generation back in the 70s. And it WILL most definitely continue to charm another generation as EPIII puts the final jigsaw pieces in place.

Be prepared for the massive flood of promo coming our way.

Meantime, movie execs, beware of shameless Cruz coming your way.

May the Force be with me.
