Finally got a haircut today. I acquired my bleached streaks just before Christmas, and it weathered through the two New Years. Time to say goodbye~ The new hairdo (plus styling by Vincci) gave a rather Jap look. But then, you don’t see that many Japs with such a round face…
I was pretty stunned to see a little boy.. probably 5, 6 years old, sitting three chairs away and getting the “adult treatment”.. This little boy was getting a haircut and COLOURING his hair!
I duno about most people, but I got my hair chopped at the neighbour salon by this auntie with bright red nails and hideous makeup before I started this job.. (no sideburns and slope right?) The first time my jet black hair ever turned shades … was a shady experiment done in my bathroom in the midst of the ‘O’s period. Yup, I figured out they won’t be so hard hearted to ban a golden hair ah beng wannabe from taking his exams.
While I’m still amazed with the ways of the rich and famous, and probably walking away green-eyed.. let’s not forget about the other spectrum. This sentence is in upper caps on TIME’s latest cover: EIGHT MILLION PEOPLE DIE EACH YEAR BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO POOR TO STAY ALIVE.
Extracts:
“… The extremely poor live with less than US$1 each day…”
“…The World Bank estimates that 1.1billion people live in extreme poverty. Asia leads in numbers, but Africa has the largest proportion: nearly half its population…”
“… The U.S. has promised repeatedly to give a larger share of its annual output to help poor countries. But year after year, the administration has failed to follow through…”
